How to get the Windows 10 May 2019 Update version 1903

Nothing external including mouse attached. Plenty of space C: is SSD with 160GB free. D: is 1TB hard drive with 767GB free.
Latest CU installed. Tried multiple times with ESD Flash drive, Update Assistant online, ESD DVD, and WIM ISO mounted. Uninstalled Antivirus and disabled Malwarebytes.
Tried with clean boot.

Every time they fail with 0X800Y70004-0X2000D

The installation failed in the SAFE-OS phase with an error during MIGRATE_DATA operation.”

SetupDiag reports fatal migration plug-in failure.

Same here, my E1705 is stuck at bootup, and its in 1803. Tried upgrading to 1809, but that didn't work. Did 1903 fix the booting issue?

Any usb, temporary or otherwise, if it's attached at the time can interfere with the upgrade process. I don't think MS expected so many of us to try to upgrade from a usb (which is a Catch 22 situation). Microsoft's mindset seems to be that we all should be getting our features updates through windows update.

The one we are talking about is a Pavilion 17T and it is working just fine so far after the upgrade.

A workaround is to copy Setup.exe from the root of your USB and its Sources folder to a temporary folder on your HDD, then run Setup from there. You can delete the temporary folder when done. I have done just that to upgrade some of my machines.

Well then why give us the option to use a USB thumb drive. Anyway I fully get your point

If not turn it off, and delete all your restore points.(make a system image then of course).

Didn't do either on mine and the upgrade tip Bree gave worked without issue. Up and running now

Oh and I use restore points all the time especially on driver updates.

This issue doen't apply if you are booting from the USB to do a clean install, so the USB does have its uses.

Yeah, I get it. Anyway system's up and running without issue thus far. Even got the updates after the upgrade.
