I don't know for 1903, but in Fast/Skippy sytem restore has always been turned off after every build's change, according to my own experience. Also, in any version of windows after each FU, drivers' letters are being reassigned twice in File Explorer's navigation pane, let alone the preview pane that always needs to be reset. Why can't MS leaves alone things that are working or already set properly?. This is not too much to ask.
Whilst it’s not fantastic feature it has helped me out a few times in the past. Predominantly with the horrible native apps when they hose up. So for that reason I like it to be on. Actually one thing I noticed it did respect was to keep fast start off. In the past it always switches on. Obviously pointless feature if running a SSD. Anyway it’s done now, both our machines have now got the feature update. The feeling is one of relief. Look forward to it all happening again in 6 months!
Hand up for another Macrium Reflect user, restore has always failed for me in the past.
I used System Restore to fix a customers PC last Friday. Took about 2.5 hours to run but it worked and resolved her problem. I'm trying to get her interested in image backup but so far no success. Probably because I've been able (so far) to fix any problem that's occurred.
Don't know if it's been mentioned, but one really useful feature of Macrium is the ability to mount images as a drive and pull data from them. This cut my recent re-build time to 1903 way, way down—having everything at hand like that.
Yep, I did that a few times as well, especially with music VSTs and Adobe plugs. It's like "oh yeah, I forgot about that one." It was a huge help.
I know MS backup (or whatever they call it) could do that. But it failed me so many times on restore (on Win 7 and 8), I just went a different route.
