Dav, glad for you—I knew someone on forum would have a suggestion. And @f14tomcat is one smart guy with lots of solutions.
Thanks Magilla, you jumped in and helped and you had good suggestions also. It just turned out that something in the existing 1809 version was causing the issue. Also proven when I restored back to the original out of the box 1809 version and was able to upgrade to 1903 also. It would have been a real pain though because of having to reload a ton of apps.

    Thanks very much!

I've got the SB AE-5 back up in running in W10 1903. That was totally weird though and a mega frustrating 7 hours!!!
Thats good to hear, Did you bother installing their software? I dont like the sound signature it changes.

Id like to clean install 1903 vesion so I have a clean slate starting from scratch. Is there a problem with the Clean Install method using a USB flash drive with 1903? I have read about problems with USB flash drives and another one I read was some problem with SD cards.
Can you clean install Windows 10 1903 using a USB flash drive?
And what is the SD card issue? My Pc does have an SD card but Ive never used it so I know nothing about them at all.
Id like to use the Media Creation Tool to download the ISO to my PC. Prepare the USB flash drive using Diskpart. Then, mount the ISO and copy the Windows 10 files onto the flash drive. Has anybody else done a clean install of 1903 yet? The posts Ive read forum members have either updated to 1903 through Windows Update, the Update assistant or by performing a repair Install

Well Tomcat, I owe you one.
I downloaded 1809 V2 iso from HeilDoc. and just placed on the desktop
    - uninstalled AV, Malwarebytes, VPN, and Ransom Stopper
    - removed the Macrium Boot Menu
    - disabled all 3rd party startup apps
    - disabled all 3rd party services
    - performed clean boot
    - mounted the iso and ran setup
    - it installed as expected
    Performed another reboot
Copied the 1903 iso to the desktop, mounted and ran setup
    1903 INSTALLED

THANK YOU FOR THROWING THAT THOUGHT OUT!

Many Thanks to all who pitched in and tried to help with the upgrade.
After trying many suggestions I combined my normal processes with a final thought from Tomcat and it worked.
That is 3 down and one more just like the last one to go.

    Thanks All!
Glad to hear that helped. You're off and running!

Yes, this was a great suggestion and glad it worked for Dav.

Sadly, in my case, it still errored out and rolled me back to 1809. Next stop clean install just to make sure it isn't hardware related. But that will have to wait.

Can anyone help??? I'm getting "the your pc has hardware that isn't ready for this version of windows"error every single time I run the setup for 1903 off USB. I've disconnected every single drive except the OS drive so why is it still complaining? I'm going mad.

This article indicates that it might be my Creative SoundBlaster sound card as the road block: Fix "What needs your attention" error when upgrading to Windows 10 May 2019 Update - gHacks Tech News

Can I disconnect the SoundBlaster card and install or should I hold off for now?
Sorry to hear you are having problems with your SB and Windows 1903. I installed 1903 on 21st when it came through on WU. All went perfect other than the update removed the SB X-Fi Titanium Fatil1ty Pro drivers and package. I went to SB support and downloaded the drivers and package from the link below and been working great since.

I hope your drivers are there and it works out for you.

    cheers

That would be crazy, no one uses CD anymore! But no it was definitely the Sound Blaster card/drivers. Have just completed the 1903 upgrade now so will try reinstalling the Sound Blaster on the new Windows...
@Kol12 it has been documented, no external storage drives, inclucing boot media for inplace repair / upgrade. The tutorial has been updated to mention this. I had a several others have had this issue and one of the workarounds is mount ISO.

Get the ISO on your storage drive, mount it and run setup.

Clean install is a different beast.

    Can't comment on Soundblaster.
