Can anyone help??? I'm getting "the your pc has hardware that isn't ready for this version of windows"error every single time I run the setup for 1903 off USB. I've disconnected every single drive except the OS drive so why is it still complaining? I'm going mad.

This article indicates that it might be my Creative SoundBlaster sound card as the road block: Fix "What needs your attention" error when upgrading to Windows 10 May 2019 Update - gHacks Tech News

Can I disconnect the SoundBlaster card and install or should I hold off for now?
It could be that you're running the setup off a USB thumb drive?

That would be crazy, no one uses CD anymore! But no it was definitely the Sound Blaster card/drivers. Have just completed the 1903 upgrade now so will try reinstalling the Sound Blaster on the new Windows...

It was surely complaining of the SB drivers that were installed (I'm doing an in place upgrade). I've uninstalled the SB drivers and 1903 has now installed. Now to see whether it works when I reinstall it...

Yes, but is 1903 half-baked? I would really like to know their update criteria!
    No way to force WU...

I've been using 1903 since it came out a month ago, Compumind, and everything seems fine so far. I try not to make a concrete statement about everything actually being fine, as long as Murphy's Law is out there looking for us! But I'm not having any problems at all.

I've got the SB AE-5 back up in running in W10 1903. That was totally weird though and a mega frustrating 7 hours!!!

So I decided to update my HP travel laptop (cheap 32GB emmc drive device, and downloaded 1903 iso, mounted it as a drive and run setup.exe.

First thing I noticed it was more like the windows update assistant in style (no longer blue background) and it was slow checking for updates. After a while, it came up with the dreaded "we cannot update you now due to incompatibilities" type message.

This surprised me as it is a pretty bog standard laptop.

I tried it again and still no joy. Was about to do trick of loading my previously made Macrium image into Hyper-V using ViBoot to see if that worked, when I had a lightbulb moment.

I disabled the WiFi on my laptop and run setup.exe again from mounted iso, and "flabber my gast", it worked and upgraded, and do far everything looks perfect.

So if anybody is getting the ubiquitous "we cannot upgrade now" message, worth a try doing it with internet disabled. Of course, make that all important Macrium Reflect Free image backup first.

    Hi there

same here --ripped DVD's to ISO's and ripped CD's to flac and stored all on NAS ages ago-- data type CD ROM's etc just copied to NAS.

Haven't used a DVD / CD for ages -- I probably only use that device for ripping a DVD or 2 for other people. DVD's and other optical media is on the way out as are floppy discs etc.

Some Virtual Machines still require the OS to be installed via an iso or physical device - but I suspect that will change soon.

With 256GB and even bigger capacity micro sd cards cheaply available and micro sd adapters for holding these = we might even see the end of USB thumb drives too in the near future.

    Cheers

I started the process of ripping my CD collection to my computer in 2008 and I still haven't finished. Everyday I say that I am about 95% done, but I buy so much new music that I still haven't finished the project. I have about 12 terabytes ripped and I am still going.

I need my optical drives because I use them daily. I will finish this darn project before I die.

Eventually people have so much music, they cannot actually physically listen to it all before they die.
