Download Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology (Intel(R) RST) User Interface and Driver

I would get this chappy installed straightaway and see what happens. I downloaded it last week - having had previous version already installed and present when 1809 -> 1903 upgrade took place couple of weeks earlier - and updated my Z170 (Gen 6) accordingly. And all is well.

Release notes indicate quite a few bugs addressed:

And also few known issues still in the works...

Well then, wish me luck on this. God damn I hate having this hoop jumping when it comes to Feature Updates. I wish M$ would just leave the freaking OS a-god damn-lone!

You'll be fine - as long as you have roll-back plan and current backup in place...!

I keep backups of my personal files before I do a big update, but thank you for your help. I got the driver done and am now preparing to finish the preliminary install of 1903.

    Hi,
Does apply to sata devices too but in all honesty standard driver will work just as well and without the bloat.
Subsequent questions therefore are: what is the standard driver? who supplies (or should supply) it? what's its version? does newer version exist? Etc.?

I'm on the opinion that the latest available and compatible device driver should be used - sourced preferably via MoBo OEMs but they are slow in releasing these (and don't get me started on this one).

Hope all will be well - you will know in 30 mins or so...!

For whatever reason the update fails to understand that I've UPDATED the freaking driver, and that it hangs up at 25% because it keeps throwing a tantrum over a non-issue.

Did you restart your device, not shutdown, before trying update?

I had to restart to finalize the installation of the RST driver (which is what the system is whining about). Should I restart again?

I'll add that this box has appeared before when it first tried to update due to the driver being out of date. And so it's been waiting patiently for the install to begin.
