How to get the Windows 10 May 2019 Update version 1903

In the process of updating my HP zbook 15v. I'm using the Windows Update Assistant, as for some reason it's not being offered for that laptop via WU. I can see absolutely no reason why not, and as I have the time today I thought I'd bite the bullet. I'm on slow ADSL so it might be a while...

Looking at Shawn's very helpful tutorials, I thought the Windows Update looked the easiest method for someone who has never updated using anything other than WU before. So that's running now. So far so good, but I'll update with the outcome later. *fingers crossed*

    UPDATE: We have lift off!

So that's the last machine updated to 1903 now. Very simple process - took about 1hr & 45mins from downloading the Windows Update Assistant to the desktop fully loading after the update had completed. Of that, downloading took 37mins (via ADSL & wifi i.e. slow as). "Getting Your Update Ready" took 47mins, and then it asked to be re-started. It then took 18mins to get to 30% after the first re-start, and then from there another 6mins to completion (I think there were another 2 re-starts between 30% and 100%). Not too bad!

All seems to be working well, which is a relief. I was slightly nervous in case there was a reason why my laptop wasn't being offered 1903 and it would all go pear shaped, but it seems pretty happy so far. *touch wood*.

    Hi catspyjamas,
I've used the assistant and was happy the way it turned out. I've found the most tedious part of the process is keeping an eye on the machine while its updating and I go off to do something else; Hoping like you that it doesn't go, 'pear shaped'. I was a long time stuck in version 1803, finally upgraded to version 1903 using the WindowsUpdateAssistant, it concluded normally, but always gave errors in subsequent cumulative update installs, so redid update 1903 using MediaCreationTool, because the Assistant always returned already updated version and it didn't work, I really didn't want to do a clean install of Windows. In MediaCreationTool I chose to update keeping files and programs and it worked perfectly. There were no more errors in the new cumulative updates. I also linked activation to Microsoft account under digital license so I no longer worry about future installations and activations even with hardware change.

Can anyone give me advice on this: My Dell Inspiron has unfortunately begun the process of getting the 1903 update, but it appears there will be a compatibility issue between it and the Intel RapidStorage technology program I have. Anyone know how to update the driver for it since it doesn’t seem to show on the program itself.

Be careful which RST driver package you install as the newest ones don't support intel series 6 and older cpu's. I have a series 6 cpu and am using 15.9.6.1044.

If he installs the intel driver update assistant all of his intel drivers will be updated when released.
