    Thank you, Brink and all.

My MicroCenter (Clever) PowerSpec 1510 laptop has:

    • Intel® Core i7-7700HQ 2.80GHz w/ Intel HD Graphics 630
      • Kaby Lake H architecture (7th generation Core)

From reading this entire thread... it appears I may better off to wait before installing this
    KB4497165: Intel microcode update.

    Agree or not?

    Thank you,

    ~ Alan
Benefit of the KB is it can be uninstalled, easier than blocking the .dll or less risk than updating and then reverting (if possible) a UEFI update.

If you want to mitigate MDS.

It means, just install it already, you have nothing to lose,

I would say, you should install it, you have always something to gain, most likely more security

Mine is not there either (306C3). I think we will have to be patient...
Just noticed that HP released a BIOS update for my 306C3 about a week ago, so hopefully your continued patience will be soon rewarded!

I saw it too, but how do I get it?. Last time I checked HP support page (probably 3 weeks ago), there was no microcode update (BIOS/UEFI) for my PC. Hopefully, at some point in the near future, I should get something either via MS or HP.

I've found Sandbox fails to start if this update is installed. Has anyone else experienced the same issue?

Keep checking HP Customer Support - Software & Driver Downloads (search for your specific Model/Product Number etc), is all I can suggest?
They are a bit slow on the uptake, but eventually your BIOS/UEFI update should be available for download/install as a 'Softpaq.exe' etc.
Now sitting @ Microcode 'x27' for the 306C3.
    :)

Just before writing this post, I checked HP Support page and still nothing for me. My microcode sits at 0x25 as per red square in screenshot taken last week from a PowerShell script.

I will keep on checking until MS or HP decide to do something about it.

When it comes to releasing BIOS updates that address security issues, HP seems to give priority to business PCs and workstations, followed by OMEN gaming computers.

Even if you have a home PC that is relatively new, you might have to wait quite a while.
