    It will be delivered through Windows Update eventually. Microsoft is just being extra cautious. The two previous microcode updates were both eventually delivered through Windows Update.
    Ah, so the microcode updates are eventually offered through Windows Update...? I must not be paying enough attention to the Update history

    For some inexplicable reason, I was under the impression that microcode updates were always manual...bad on me...

    One happy hp user!
    I just got a BIOS update from hp, which brought my CPU microcode revision to the one recommended by intel in its May 14, 2019 microcode update guidance.

    The new microcode mitigates the newly found Microarchitectural Data Sampling (MDS) vulnerabilities and since the recommended microcode is loaded by UEFI, there is no need to install the KB4497165, which breaks Sandbox.

    @ddelo,

    Very good news indeed!. I am going to check what's in store for me. By any chance, do you know when KB4497165 was released, for I don't see it in my Windows Update History from Control Panel:

    The latest one was released 18-June.
    But if you haven't installed it, manually (i.e from the Windows Update Catalogue), it's not gonna be anywhere in the updates.

    EDIT:
    Your CPU is not listed in the update yet (see 1st post)
    And another thing. KB4497165 is an update for v1903...be careful.

    Unfortunately HP BIOS Update Support page has got anything for me yet:

    I am going to check the MUC for KB4497165. Tnx, mate!

    I have just realized that I am still on 1809 and in MUC it is just for 1903.

    @IronZorg89, CPUID 306C3 is not listed in KB4494174 Intel Microcode Updates for Windows 10 v1809 - June 18 either.
    So I guess you just wait!

    Your help is greatly appreciated. That is exactly what MS is also advising me to do:
