AMD's processors have Microcode exactly like Intel's, getting the microcode update it totally normal if it updates the file mcupdate_AuthenticAMD.dll. Except it will be strange to name it only Intel microcode update

You can check if the file has been updated from the image version 10.0.18362.1 then the KB4497165 is for both Intel and AMD

Is this like a refresh of an old microcode update? Original post for this update us 2019?

Yes , M$ just updates the Files in the KB , but a particular MC may not have been update in 6-12 months.

Intel has posted new microcode update guidance. It appears that Ivy Bridge and Sandy Bridge processors are no longer supported.

AFFECTED PROCESSORS: Latest Transient Execution Attacks by Product CPU Model

Microsoft is now about 7 months behind when it to comes to providing microcode updates from Intel.

Thanks. That's the end of the road for my Ivy Bridge i5-3570k CPU in my desktop PC. I fail to see why it listed under the mobile segment in the table.

The only attack that need firmware mitigation for ivy bridge is Special Register Buffer Data Sampling Advisory but intel end the support.
With Sandy bridge also intel end the support, but it does not matter as is has not has this vulnerability.
For haswell intel create the microcode 28.

I have a Sandy Bridge CPU. Could you please elaborate on why they are not affected by this vulnerability?

So my 8700k is now two versions behind and thats as current as the MS update provides. It is 0xb4, then 0xc6 was released as I saw in one of the intel publications a few months back, and the link posted above indicated 0xD6 released recently. Wonder when they finally include?

I see. Thank you! So, it's a good news, bad news story then for Sandy Bridge.
