Thanks for the heads-up @Brink: updates now applied. FWIW, I also saw a raft of updates yesterday for my sole remaining Office 2013, via WU.

    Hi folks

currently Office/365 and Office 2019 updates are "in sync" with each other - but I gather its the intention of Ms to make Office 2019 the last "Non subscription" model and they will be introducing features that won't be available on other versions of Office. When this will happen who knows !!

Actually that said about the only feature of Office that I've found really useful since Office 2007 or even Office 2003 on XP is the improved Pivot Table handling in EXCEL - and unless you are a power user I doubt whether that would be of interest to probably the vast majority of home users.

Of course later versions of office now include more collaboration things and SKYPE integration - but that also doesn't really interest me either - most businesses have all sorts of ways of managing remote meetings / video conferencing etc etc.

Actually back in XP days Ms had a great one called "Netmeeting" -- was a brilliant app for its time - then like Outlook express also a good simple free email client these were dropped with the ending of XP.

Some of the stuff coming back is a bit like "back to the Future" !!!!! and it's difficult to see apart from security updates what more could be done to improve Office.

What I could suggest would be for Access -- I hesitate to even think of calling that a "database" -- hideous and breaks easily -- to be discontinued while EXCEL could have features added so it could function also as a decent smallish type of database system -- not saying it should compete with MySQL / MariaDB etc but could certainly run Ms Access type of stuff.

    Cheers
