I'm getting this update is not applicable for the computer
my Current version is 17763.475? I've made couple of attempts one time it told me I already had the update installed, all the other times just not for this notebook.

I downloaded from the 64 bit link
This is my Dell Inspiron 13 7386

2019-05-15 1600 My Office computer gave me the same error from .439, I installed (SSU) (KB4499728) and then ran the .503 update it installed on the first attempt, will do the same on my other computers.

2019-05-16 0800 update My Mobil7 notebook same as above, Installed the SSU, then .503 update no issues installed on the first try only 1 installation in my update history

209-05-16 1000 my FrontDesk computer apparently installed yesterday and rebooted during off hours and then ran a 2nd install which presented me this morning with reboot to complete install. The history shows 2 installation of this KB4494441? So this computer already had SSU update installed?

Mobil6 installed KB4499728 then KB4494441 no issues only one install and only one install in the update install history.

Well thats my story and I'm sticking to it.

Ok im going through the steps to run the revised power shell, and it detects the version from the last time I ran this script. how do I install the most current version? Im a newb....i thought I could simply add -force to the end of the "install-module speculationcontrol" command and it would work. Any help?

OK, third update. went to windows update, and installed it again. Now its in there twice, brought my build up to 17763.503 (it was not before the first update go round). But when I run that script, still "false" in MSDSWindowsSupportPresent.....

Try installing this update first worked for me (SSU) (KB4499728) You'll find it on page 1 of this thread

Don't be.... just wait to get it, either from Microsoft or your board's manufacturer.

The first update came early to morning. Installed with no issues, but the it still showed .475. Was browsing here this afternoon and said maybe I should check for updates. Guess what, same KB but this time it got it done (.503).

That was the same thing for most users on tenforums. They had to download twice before getting to the right build.

Not quite. I was watching network activity on several of my machines in Task Manager. I was checking that the 'allow downloads from other PCs on my network' delivery optimisation worked as described (it did).

I noticed that there was only one download, the one for for the first 'check for updates'. The second 'check for updates' completed the install without downloading anything.

I can confirm that, all bar one of my 1809 systems required two passes to install .503 - but NOT two downloads, the second pass downloaded nothing new (I was watching network activity in Task Manager). It seemed to use the files already downloaded. The one exception that installed on the first attempt was an x86 machine, all the others were x64.

Not quite. On my Tablet, it also had to do it twice, but the first update on either machine never showed the spinning dot's and the % of updates, it did on the second update ?

    @Bree, @storageman,

That is why I said "Most users" because I knew that others were not so unlucky. On the other hand, really appreciate the explanation given by @Bree in the quoted message.

Love this forum. I came here to find out why kb4494441 installed successfully yesterday, after a manual "check for updates". And then installed again today automatically. Since Win10 is asking me to restart, I might as well. Thanks all for sharing what you've learned about this particular update's quirkiness.
