Intel has never up till now released MCU directly to end users. It provides its updates to OEMs and OS vendors.
If you want to check your CPU status, according to Intel's plans for updated MCU, check the latest Intel Microcode Revison Guidance
So i have an 8700k and I am on the "premitigation" MC. how do i get that updated MC? Is it via that windows update you can manually install and they keep revising with MC changes?

It'll probably be first sent through the update catalog, and when and if your board gets a new BIOS, it will then be included with that.

    Hi there
@Guitarmageddon Love the user name !!!!!!!

For the rest : VMWare problems now resolved on this release (and the 20H1 one as well) -- new version of VMWare WKS and Player fix the ongoing problems with VMWare -- when 19H1 and 20H1 builds were used as a HOST GSOD's and freezes were experienced when trying to attach external devices to the VM.

Now fully fixed -- functions perfectly. Screenshot shows 4TB external drive attched to the VM and functioning properly.

Do you mean automatic update or manual download? I didnt think they pushed MC updates out like that

Exactly as Cliff said. Most probably Microsoft will be quicker in offering the mcu via its Update Catalog.
If your motherboard manufacturer cares to provide a BIOS/UEFI update (they usually do, for new boards), you will also get it from a new BIOS/UEFI update, in which case the MS one will be redundant.
In any case, just keep an eye in here for the MS update (Shawn Brink, keeps us always updated on that stuff). If you also want to get it through a BIOS/UEFI update, keep also an eye in the manufacturer's Support page!

    Manual download.

Right now there's only up to Windows version 1709, so keep an eye on the Ten Forums News forms page,
