Knowing your expertise, I suppose you are already on OS Build: 17763.503 in winver. After your post, I went to "Check for Updates", but I didn't get it for a third round. This is getting silly is just an understatement. Same can be said about those side-channel vulnerabilities.
Silly is an understatement. Ridiculous sounds more appropriate!

Check this link ASUS Update of Intel management engine firmware-Laptop Reviews

Download and extract the file MEUpdateTool_12.0.35.1427.ZIP

Make sure you close all other application, run MEUpdateTool.exe as administrator and follow the instructions, don't interrupt,

    reboot once done
EDIT: I can finally run the tool and it restarted my PC, turned it off, turned it on, and i'm on windows right now.
I attach a picture. Is the version ok, or the update is for the motherboard? Or i'm missing something?

    An interesting observation:
Before updating, I deleted the two Retpoline entries:
    • FeatureSettingsOverride and
    • FeatureSettingsOverrideMask

from the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management
After the installation was completed, the two registry values are still missing, but the SpeculationControl PowerShell script, shows Retpoline enabled!
What prompted you to delete the two Retpoline entries, I wonder? Well, I had set those up some time back and didn't delete them, so Retpoline was already enabled. I can't say if this update had any effect. I still have the registry entries and Retpoline is enabled, FWIW.

I had set the two entries to 0x400, to enable Retpoline. What made me delete them?
Microsoft's Release notes, in the 1st post, where they're saying that Retpoline is now enabled by default. So I deleted them to see, what the CU will do with Retpoline!
After the update, although the two entries do not exist, Retpoline is enabled, like before!

You're right. I've now delete my two entries and restarted. Retploline is still enabled.

Nope, I already reported, it is the same old Microcode update, the same old file, signed in February , just they change the date
That makes sense as the prefix of the file is still 2019-02

They are still in 1709 for MDS.
See the last section in https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/...rocode-updates
Many thanks for this link :) this will help me to monitor the progress of the update. I wonder why Microsoft decided to start with the older versions of Windows when they are obviously so keen for us to stay as updated as possible.

In my opinion, I don't think they're needed, if the running microcode is up to date.

You're most welcome...and I wish I had a good answer regarding Microsoft's decision to start with the older versions, but unfortunately I don't.
