Hey, I'm having trouble getting this update. I actually installed it fine two days ago, the way it installs twice etc, but I had to restore from an older OS image and now this update can't be found in Windows update. I get the Net and Flash updates, but not this one.

Any idea what's going on? Did MS pull it? I've been checking for a hew hours now, but no luck.
Go to Brink's OP and at the bottom of the KB you'll see 'How to get this update' and run the servicing stack update as yours may be old or missing.

Okay I've got a problem here.

I had 3 updates that were at "Pending restart":
    --The Adobe Flash Security Update
    --The 2019/05 cumulative update
    --The Microsoft frameworks update.

However, before I could do the restart my Windows 10 PC crashed and I had to shut it down by pulling out the power cable and then turning it back on.

It seems that the Adobe Flash Security Update and the Microsoft Frameworks update both installed, but the 2019/05 cumulative update didn't?

It says that the 2019/05 cumulative update is "pending restart" but it also says that it was installed when I check "View update history".

1st update for KB4494441, I'm still stuck with .475 and 2 packages needed to be clean up (I didn't run the startcomponentcleanup). 2nd update for KB4494441 then successfully became .503 and the number of reclaimable packages is 0. (I ran sfc /scannow) *Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.*
As for the disk cleanup is around 3.xx GB and the duration is approximately 5 minutes only. (After successfully updated .503)
I had the double installation issue, and running the disk cleanup showed 5.xx GB in Win Update, but after the long process to end the cleanup the size of the OS disk remained the same as before the disk cleanup, i did restart the PC and run again the disk cleanup but it did not show any WU left files, anyone else had this strange behaviour? (first time for me, I usually monitor the disk size before and after any new WU), i am also noticing a stange (very low size) of the dowload folder in the disk cleanup panel. Thanks for any help.
P.S. I mean the size of the OS of course

The best way to clean windows is running this in command as admin

    Code:
    Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup /ResetBase
Just be aware you can not restore old versions after this command as admin

And you can delete the folder Download inside the SoftwareDistribution running this command

    Code:
    RD /S /Q %windir%\SoftwareDistribution\Download

Just a note. KBs cannot be uninstalled after this command runs. I'm assuming that's what JenyJ means. DISM has no effect on Windows.old folder. And always a good practice to do a complete system image backup prior to running anything irreversible.

Thank you very much Jenyl and Tomcat, i will try the command line cleanup method as i'll be back home, and yes making sistem image backup is a usual practice for me and i know that cleaning the WU folder/file i cannot restore older version; I usually delet it after testing the updated OS for a couple of days and using the standard disk cleanup worked fine since today.

Actually Running the normal cleanmgr.exe method, will still make you restore old versions,

But the command I gave you will not only clean the winsxs folder, it will also delete all the rollbacks inside the folder C:\Windows\servicing\LCU

Just remember to run CMD as admin before run the commands

Thanks, I was more wondering why I got the update automatically via Windows Update before but after restoring from an image I'm not getting offered the update now.

The last time that happened for me was when 1809 first released with the file deletion bug.

Interestingly, I have another machine that did a backup with this update installed, but the build number is not 503, and it doesn't get offered the update again, even though it did before, when it installed twice.

    Makes no sense.

Just got back home from a business trip and Windows Updates had offered the CU.

After downloading, the installation started. It went up to 100% and returned to 11% and finished in one go!
After rebooting, winver shows 17763.503 and no double entries in Update History.
Rebooted once more and checked for updates... nothing came up!

    An interesting observation:
Before updating, I deleted the two Retpoline entries:
    • FeatureSettingsOverride and
    • FeatureSettingsOverrideMask
from the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management

After the installation was completed, the two registry values are still missing, but the SpeculationControl PowerShell script, shows Retpoline enabled!
