    @Edwin,

    . Tried all three of them and got exactly, exactly the same thing as yours. I didn't find it necessary to take screenshots. So, you are not alone, if that can be of any solace...
    It's all good. I was p*ssed about Explorer Search but, Start/Search handles indexing just fine!

    If I'm in Explorer, I like to have a button for Search, (I'm a lazy mouser! )...

    ... the query has to open in the mordern UI but, the results are still fast and efficient, so it's okay!

    I am a bit confounded by the configuration of your tabs in File Explorer. What is your trick? Do you use a third-party tool for tabs, like "DeskScape" from Stardock?. On second thought, it wouldn't work in an Insider build. I only have a search box in mine. Sorry for my ignorance and when you don't know, you have to ask (best way to learn).

    That whole mess you see there is QTTabBar, with a little bit of Old/New Explorer mixed in, laying on top of Windows Blinds, with a few custom icons and fonts.

    Thanks for the heads-up. I knew about QTTabBar, but never dared to give it a try. In you case, it is a mix of the latter and personal preference. By the way, I also use WindowBlinds and I really like it.

    Hi there

    Sorry -- but that looks absoutely HIDEOUS and definitely highly "user Aggressive" -- of course people have their own preferences but simple clean search function like "From here" , "Everywhere", "On Web" when in file explorer IMO is way more sufficient and easier to use.

    Still YMMV.

    Cheers

    You must understand @Edwin. We mere mortals, we have a rule "do not fix it if it's not broken". Customizing geeks like Edwin, it's turned to "do tweak it if it's still working".

    Edwin is the only geek who I know who can make Windows totally non-functioning because of various DLL and other tweaks, then blame Microsoft's bloody annoying Windows for OS crashing all the time...
