    Running:
    Attachment 235681
You probably mean Pause, not Defer.

But are you still running in an Insider Preview ring, e.g. Slow or Release Preview, at Settings, Update & Security, Windows Insider Program?

Insiders have never been able to Defer updates, and have never been able to Pause updates for more than seven days.

My bad, you are correct I meant Pause. I'm not running in an Insider Preview ring. Running 1093 after manual update with WUA.

I can pause for up to 35 days in 1903 Home.

Also, once I have clicked 'Pause for 7 days' I can click it again to add 7 more days (and keep clicking until it reaches the maximum 35 days).

    @Bree, thanks.

I have to click a lot of times to pause it to 35 days. Five days increment with each click. That is on advanced options.

As mentioned before in an earlier post 1903 was offered to me by wu and I updated my pc with no problem from 1809.
Everything seem to be working fine with no problem except : 1- I see a decrease in performance (boot speed has almost
doubled). 2- I have few WD external USB hard disks and when I connect them to my laptop they are no longer recognized.
Only solution is to restart the PC and after that HDD's are detected.

I was wondering if anyone else is has similar problems and if there is a solution?

I always prefer a clean install after each major update. I use UEFI-bootable USB and apparently the latest image may not
    install from usb drive
@rezpower - re. Issue 2. I have seen others complain about WD external drives (very specif brand) not working.

This suggests a driver related issue which is unusual for hard drives admittedly. Have you visited WD webpage to see if they have updated drivers.

A simple thing to try as well in s to turn of fast start as you say it works after rebooting. Fast start is often the issue with many odd issues. With SSDs, Fast Start is barely worth the effort for the few seconds it gains.

    Hi there.

Not necessarily related to the previous post - but if you install this build via UUPDUMP then you still have to remove external USB HDD's while doing the upgrade -- internal SDHC (micro SD cards in built in readers don't affect the issue any more now) . After the upgrade then at least on my machines external HDD's work properly and I have both AMD and INTEL CPU / boards.

I can't believe these days that unless you have some weird type of hardware RAID or SAS controllers bog standard generic HDD drivers don't work.

External HDD's sometimes don't work because they need more power -- a charging port or a powered hub will IMO 99.999% of the time fix that type of problem. I don't think I've seen for years an external HDD needing a special driver. Of course if the USB drivers on the MOBO itself are hosed up or incorrect -- another story but even here generic Windows USB drivers seem to function properly. Check the Device manager for question marks or yellow exclamation marks to see if incorrect or missing hardware driver installed.

    Cheers

    Incidentally, is 'UUPDump' still alive?

I enjoyed upgrading to my 1903-18362.145 recently via this URL/site:

h#ps://uupdump.ml/ ~ but can not since connect.

    Thanks..

I just went there last night, Mutoidi. In fact, I just tried it, and it's alive and well.

Well I am back after few hours of 1903 clean installing and customizing. Although I know and claim this all the time I can't refrain from
saying it again. A clean install after a major update is a MUST. My boot time is half what it was and PC is damn smooth and error-less
    now.

For My USB external hard drive problem, it appears that today another healthy drive is starting to do the same thing! I start to beleive
that there is a problem with my PC's USB device !!? Ports being used for years now sometimes give me problems (Like cable is sometimes
blocked when I try to pull out or blocked and not letting me to insert the cable in) I don't know if there is anything that I can do to fix that
    at home!?
