    Hi there

Conspiracy theories -- maybe Ms wants to push businesses to AZUR or it's own 2016 (or later) HYPER-V server system !! However for individuals either of those are far too expensive - especially for Home users. !!!

    Cheers

    Hi,

Does MS push Feature Updates after several months or it never happens and its solely on the user to pull it?

Same here. I've been using 1903/18362.86 and I've had no issues to report.

Well I hope VMWare is not holding up the GA release - in the old days an RC was distributed to OEM's and Vendors for sign-off - now Goodness knows what tangled web is being weaved. As usual MS stays mum. I wish they were more professional in their dealings with their customers. One can only guess mis-management of the whole process.
I doubt they would hold it up over that. For the general public I don't see how this would be a deal breaker.

Dunno 'bout that, there is a lot of corporate rep to be lost - not so much Joe Public

    Microsoft and VMware | LATAM

Modern MS is Cloud/Azure first - I don't think they are gonna diss VMWare lightly.

    Hi folks

On this release Issue of accessing Kindles on a HYPER-V Linux VM is solved !!! so only phone issue remains.

Assuming you have Calibre installed on your Linux VM you use the Connect button -->connect as folder and browse to the documents folder in "thin clients" which you see when you connect the kindle to the host. The Thin clients appears when you use RDP to connect to your Linux VM.

Calibre is brilliant for converting e-books say from epub to kindle format etc and general e-book management

Then it all works brilliantly !!!!! Happy camper today !! (for once even if it is a Monday).

Video / audio / backup server working fine as well.

I can't wait for VMWare any more -- happy with the solution

That is due to change shortly. The current situation is that MS will push the Features Update when their AI believes your system is ready for it. Home has no option but to accept it, Pro can Defer features updates.

The new 'download and install' feature in 1903 will make the Features Update optional. You will be alerted it is available once your machine is seen as being 'ready' but until you click 'download and install' it will not install. If you never click it, you will be able to continue checking for and installing cumulative updates for your current version for as long as it remains supported. Only shortly before end of support will it finally be pushed on you. This feature is due to be 'retro-fitted' to 1803 and 1809 shortly, so should be in place before the public launch of the features update to 1903.

This new “download and install” option will also be available for our most popular versions of Windows 10, versions 1803 and 1809, by late May.

It will be auto-pushed when the OS version is dead. So as an example; if you are on an outdated system and MS doesn't update you automatically, you can either get it yourself or MS will push out the latest feature update once that OS version (e.g 1607) reach end of life.

I couldn't wait, so just put myself into the preview ring for a while.
Me too, John. I installed it on the off chance that I'd run into something that needs fixing, Microsoft would fix it, and everyone on TenForums would be forever grateful to me. Ha! Fat chance, but what the hey . . .

Seriously, I'm just following my beta testing instincts, just as I have on every new Build so far. Maybe with enough of us testing Release Preview 1903, it will be the best one yet.

I seriously doubt MS would hold up 1903 because of VMWARE issues. That is a 3rd party hypervisor so will be low priority to fix - they will blame VMWARE anyway saying it is up to them to update.
I'm pretty sure I've read somewhere that Microsoft and VMWare are working together to find a solution.
