    I would hope they can at least give some forewarning. I am in the habit of regularly clicking check for updates. I don’t know what would happen if I tried to shutdown if some kind of update or definition update was happening (or downloading) in the background. So if I check for updates manually upon boot and just before shutdown I feel I am in control (I do the same for office 365). By the same token I don’t enjoy nasty surprises coming through windows update especially not when fully prepared so would be nice if they would give a slightly more accurate indication. I’m not in the habit of forcing an update (iso etc) as I have always relied on Windows update to offer each update to me.

    of course what would be even nicer is to cut back on these feature updates. Twice a year seems overkill. I though Apple was bad with it’s iOS but at least they only force the Russian roulette wheel once a year
    @Scottyboy99 and all others.....

    You can check for "Updates" without any concern something will take off without your knowledge or consent. It works fine, and has been working fine for ages. (Can block them, too)

    Hi folks

    as I've posted elsewhere -- VMWare working again running this build as a Host. 20H1 builds also working. You need to download the update from VMWare to the latest release then it all works fine.

    Cheers

    Certainty not a clean install which requires significant effort to reinstall and configure all programs and accounts! Always make a system backup before a feature upgrade. I always defer feature upgrades for 6 months to allow time for MS to fix the inevitable initial problems.
    I am not a big fan of "Clean Install" myself and I cannot honestly remember the last time I did one. Your way is the right thing to do...LOL!

    Same here - continuously running since Mar '17 (so 1511 out-of-the-box PC / 1607 immediately updated upon first power up).

    (I also continuously ran Windows XP since mid-2012 - since HDD upgrade which sadly and ultimately necessitated complete and painful reinstall - until early 2017, when said PC eventually died. If it wasn't for this HDD swap, it would have been running okay since 2006!)

    There was never an "April 2019 Update announced; instead, Microsoft announced some time back that the next update (1903) will be released to the general public in late May. I'm not sure whether it will be called the "May 2019 Update" or will be released under some other update name.

    As to Release Preview (RP), that must be selected from the Insider options:

    Note that I've "picked" Release Preview. What this means is that the only Insider Builds I'll get are those designated as a "potential" final release of version 1903. Click on the highlighted preview version and as shown in the next screen shot, you can choose which Preview you want to use.

    Those of us in the Insider Program that have selected Release Preview (RP) will possibly get one, two, or more new Builds to test before 1903 is actually released to the general public in late May.

    So, no, I don't think you have the final version. In fact, I got a cumulative update to version 1903, Build 18362.113 yesterday. I'm pretty sure there will be more to come.

    If you want to opt out of the Insider Program, just click on "Stop getting preview builds" as shown in the first screen shot.
