Windows 10 as cloud only... seriously the world isn't ready for that. I'm curious (and admittedly I've done NO research on this) but how does one run software on a cloud OS. Or game for that matter? Also why would anyone pay (for bandwidth) to access an OS that is somewhere else when currently it costs them nothing. Makes no sense...

Who knows... if Windows 10 really turns out to be a cloud OS maybe the Linux crowd will finally get the users numbers they're after.

Sorry, but it doesn't work very well for home users, believe me.
All the synching back and forth and the bandwidth just to pull an app across, is very rough.
Not to mention, there are a lot of people who only will use Cellular Hotspots, Like the Verizon JetPack. try running a full blown OS and software across that,.,., good luck, hahaha, you can barely get some web pages to load if you are in a bad area or on a bad day.

Office365 is a little different
It actually installs a ful;l version on your PC. As if you went out and bought Office 2013 and installed it.
You can then login to it and use Skydrive or whatever, but you are not obligated to or required to save your data out there. You can save it anywhere you want.
Office 365 is not a full Cloud Software Suite.

It is subscription based Software, not Cloud Software.

No, we will not see a full blown Cloud OS anytime soon,
MS might throw something experimental out there, but it won't go far.

Now, if you want to talk about Subscription based OS, That is far more likely the case for Win10 than a Cloud OS. there is a big difference.,

You will get the OS, install it, and be required to set up an account with a Credit Card
Probably about 99$ a year for per PC/device.

I can see advantages - e.g. you don't have to maintain your system and programs, just your data. That would certainly be an advantage for the millions of users that have no clue of what a PC is.

On the other hand I wonder how they would handle my gigabytes of data over the net. I think we would need another, faster internet.

Just as bad imo. Windows 7 Professional costs me R2500 per PC. I pay it and get to use it indefinitely. Now MS introduce a subscription plan instead. If it is $99 per year then that over R1000 per year over here. Hardly value for money...

I think, I'm going to keep Win 8.1 until 1/10/2023 because I don't like subscriptions based OS and Cloud :grumpy:
