And since we're on the subject, how do you rate Zorin? Is it a better Linux experience than the other distros? I've bren wanting to try it for ages...

Zorin is the easy entry point to Linux. You get a complete system and really have to do nothing to run it. I tuned mine a bit to reduce the options that I don't need (as you can see in the video), but that is not really necessary. The only iffy setup is for the VMware Tools. But that I explain in the tutorial that is referenced in the video. No rocket science, just lengthy going thru all the commands that I provide here.
The complete opposite is Fedora. There you get a bare bone system with which you can do nothing - can't even play a song or a video. And if you are not expert in Terminal (their rather complex Command Prompt), forget it. You don't go anywhere.
Another good option that I like is Mint Mate (not the other Mint distros). Watch the first video and then have a look at the second picture link. The setup is a bit more involved than Zorin but very simple thru the UI. And the VMware Tools is only 2 commands.
I went with Linux Mint Mate, as per your recommendation from a previous post and have found that I rather like it.Another good option that I like is Mint Mate (not the other Mint distros).
I don't know whether you saw this package I made. It may be helpful - lot's of Mate tutorials included.LittleJay, post: 12132, member: 114 said:
True. I love the look of Fedora but am not terminal fluent so it really doesn't work for me. Still muck about with it but nothing major.whs, post: 12123, member: 58 said:
I don't know. Even the Fedora look did not impress me. I got thrown out of their forum because I made a few not so positive comments, LOL. These guys are really up tight and believe in their stuff. I guess it does not hurt to be enthusiastic about what you are doing.bigseb, post: 12145, member: 98 said:

That is also one of the goals I do believe. And it is possible now, but they have to be coded in XNA I think.Coke Robot, post: 12026, member: 178 said:
It's still in it's infancy thought, I think.
I can't believe anybody throwing whs off of a site. Makes me wonder about using Linux. How would one ask for help on such a site without getting in trouble.
