    Time to start a debate

So 18875(for those that have it) and still no tabs in file explorer?

But other crap for a minority of users, even fringe ones

I don't need a tab for every freakin program open, I prefer a window for that, but I NEED tabs in File Explorer.
I wish they would cut the crap and over complicating things, that are just not needed, or that don't work well, or are just plain stupid and get on the ball

I mean simple stuff like driver compatibility with SD card readers and a sound card manufacturer they can't get right for months(although that is on both sides, MSFT & the hardware manufacturers).

MS needs to concentrate on the core OS functions. Tabs in Explorer are nice but there are 3rd party solutions for that.

Sets was going to bring tabs to File Explorer and other Windows applications. An early version of Sets once appeared in Windows Insider builds, but Microsoft pulled it. Now, according to Microsoft’s Rich Turner on Twitter, Sets is “no more.”

I used a 3rd party solution but after I bought my 4K monitor and now have a mixed pair of 1080p & 4K the software has a real problem, where it shows part only in 4K scaling and other parts in 1080p scaling.
    Yes the window mixed scales.

The program is called Clover and uses a Chromium backend that leaves File Explorer looking like File Explorer(too many alternatives make look like something from Windows 3.0) just with tabbed windows, basically each instance holds the same window size putting a tab on the window chrome, which has the name of the folder that it has opened, also you can add bookmarks(that's all Quick Access is too), use keyboard shortcuts, and the like.

The problem for me still exists as the last update was in July 2018

This is actually exactly what I want from Microsoft.
Maybe now they are using a Chromium Edge, they can get tabs for FE to work the same?

That quote leaves out in my opinion the most important part in what Rich Turner actually said, that adding tabs is high on their to-do list.

OK, he works in team making command line tools for Windows, so that doesn't have to mean that Explorer gets tabs. Personally, I would be quite happy to get tabs to Command Prompt and WSL, like PowerShell ISE already has.
