    I also disabled Windows Search, cleaned up the \Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download folder and was able to install. After the install, Windows Search is running again. I didn't enable or start it.

    I'm using Windows Defender. No Malwarebytes, no CCleaner, no other AV or AS program.
    C:\Windows.old is 22.7GB
    Delivery Optimization 2.98GB

    The only programs I've added are Everything Search and Greenshot.

    I'd also like to know how Windows Search figures into this? Why does disabling it allow the update to work? Microsoft change4d something in the upgrade process, what was it? Almost certainly they "fixed" one problem and caused this new one.

    Hello Insiders - We have received feedback from some Insiders that they are seeing a 0xca00a000 download error for Build 18875. We are investigating. Please upvote feedback item Feedback Hub - Windows Insider if you have experienced this issue. Thank you.

    Don't understand why there are 2 discussions about same thing.

    Only because at one time feedback was posted that was very similar, and later Feedbackers just chose the one they wanted to reply to and/or upvote. I've seen multiple for the same many times. MS Feedback admins usually choose one (like the one posted by Shawn) to consolidate the issue.

    UPDATE 4/16: A huge thank you to all the Windows Insiders who reported and up-voted feedback on receiving 0xca00a000 and/or 0x80242016 errors when attempting to download and install Build 18875. Your feedback has been immensely helpful in the investigation of the issue. We have determined that there is an issue with the Build 18362.53 (KB4495666) Cumulative Update that was released early last week which has caused updates to Build 18875 to fail. The issue only impacts 19H1 to 20H1 updates and occurs due to a migration failure as the OS attempts to update to the new build. To resolve this issue, we are creating a new Cumulative Update that will need to be applied on top of Build 18362.53 first before Insiders will be able to update to the latest 20H1 builds. As we work on this new Cumulative Update, we have stopped offering Build 18875 to Insiders on Build 18362.53 and holding off flighting a new 20H1 build until we can deliver the fix to unblock Insiders. Our goal is for this to happen by the end of this week. We’ll share additional updates as available.

    Thanks for the heads up Brink and it's a good detailed explanation by Microsoft. However on the other side of the coin why didn't they test this out before build 18875 was released. It's surely not a large stretch of the imagination to realise that an Insider on the RP or Slow ring would switch to Fast or Skippy and update. Still I suppose that's what us Insiders are put on this earth for

    @Brink,

    Great news from MS, but I am already, like many others who have circumvented or more precisely found a solution to these errors, on build 18875. I won't have to apply this upcoming update. I really hope that it will help those who are still fighting with these errors.

    I'm very glad they stopped offering build 18875. I still say that except for security updates they should allow us to choose what updates we want to download.
