I'm not sure why disabling searh works, less sure if it's anything to do with AV sw. You could perhaps try disabling any AV sw before uninstalling

The thing that makes so frustrated is, I have an Ubuntu VM that's currently on 18.04 LTS(switched to LTS version at 18.04), that I have been upgrading since since 15.10, and never, ever. had a single problem.

The Linux geeks like to recommend a clean install for each new version, but I don't as I don't see a single reason to, and I think they just say that because they think that's the geeky cool thing to say.

Microsoft on the other hand, has been getting more sloppy in the last couple years with their upgrade system.
IMHO, It went to H** when they went to using the UUP Update method. They also need to stop adding more features to Windows until the known issues are fixed.

I tried disabling them to get this build to install and that didn't work. Disabling Search worked to get this build to install. The problem now is the Green Screen after a few seconds when Windows starts. It crashes to fast me me to get the error code. I'm thinking that something is trying to start in the background that's causing it.

I decided to give it one more try. I disabled ESET for 4 hrs, stopped SuperAntiSpyware from starting and deleted CCleaner Free. I also uninstalled Dashlane Password program. For the last two or three builds Dashlane was running very slow. I also noticed that when I ran Windows Update a Intel - net driver and a NVidia driver were installed. My desktop is ready for a restart so here I go.

Still no joy. Green Screens just after the desktop loads and the programs and services are starting. I also tried Safe Mode and still got the Green Screen. Guess I'll have to wait for a fix before I can install a new build on this desktop.

My efforts really washed this time around. After three days of trials and errors (0x80242016) (0xca00a000), I followed the instructions in post # 160 by @IMOd. At first attempt, things didn't work as expected; I had to click on "Retry" for them to finally pay off. I cannot tell why:

Disk Cleanup showed 26.4 GB for Previous Windows Installations and 3.36 GB for Delivery Optimization Files. That is really a big chunk of space. That was done on my second Machine (not a VM):

    A big thanks to @IMOd!

I cannot take credit for finding the work around. I just posted here what another person had posted on the Feedback Hub (after using his suggestion successfully.)

Anyhow, you deserve some credit for your findings even coming from another person. The fact of just sharing has been in and of itself very helpful.
