After a few hours of use after the update, the entire machine locked up, mouse & all. Could not enter Task Manager, held power button until it shut off. Event Viewer indicates many DCOM errors.

Kind of unsettling to say the least. Thanks for sharing and giving us a heads-up.

Downloaded KB4493509 and runing fine here.
At first my system seemed to just stay at the pending install message. So after I manually restarted I could see that the CU had failed because the installer was interrupted. Tried installing a second time and all is well.
I'll chalk it up to my operator error.

Did it create Restore Point on its own? Judging by what I see on my PC as we speak I doubt?

EDITED TO ADD: It was created (as expected) on my Windows 8.1 laptop:

EDITED TO ADD AGAIN: Nope, it wasn't , the above precedes yesterday's patches.

    Hi there
Updated via standard WU no problem - just a few minutes.
Can't see anything wrong with this build so far (at least for the things I use it for).

I can't say about eseoteric video hardware, games etc but things like Photoshop, Office, Networking, Access to SAPand VPN's (corporate) systems, and access to NAS's all OK as is running VM's under VMware.

    All OK

    Cheers

Got it automatically on 3 of the 5 machines I have currently running 1809. Updating the other two machines right now. So far, so good.

Exactly what happeded to me too. I pushed reset button and after boot the computer freezes on the windows login screen. I was able to boot up in safe mode, uninstalled this update, booted normally and everything is working again. I used the microsoft troubleshooter app to hide this update for now since windows automatically wants to install it again and everytime it resulted my computer being frozen.
