    Nothing against Avira, but most people are only using Windows Defender (WD) + Malwarebytes free edition. With this combo, I am pretty sure you will have less headache. Just saying!

    I agree with you, Z. I would rather beat MS into submission, er, .. convince them into improving their own AV/AM products than pay a third party for another.

    They (MS) are going to put some real improvement in the upcoming FU 19H1 at the end of next month. It is called Tamper protection feature. You already have also a Windows Sandboxing feature in all pro and Enterprise editions. For reference:

    @Shawn,

    Thanks for the link from tenforums regarding "Tamper Protection Feature" (post #135). I just knew it and thought that Brink is going to add it for me. I don't know if it is laziness or fast availability in my list of references. I really have to make the effort to scour, rather search tenforums' tutorial index next time before adding those links.

    TP (Tamper protection) eh?

    I only see pro and enterprise mentioned in the conversation about TP what about home?

    Not only do we have CFA (controlled folder access) blocking legitimate programs now we have TP. Just the other night I had to jump through hoops because CFA didn't like the way the new flash version smelled. what a pita!

    Tamper Protection prevents certain changes to security features to avoid misuse. Malicious applications could change security settings but with tamper protection in place, these setting changes should be blocked by Tamper Protection.

    Microsoft reveals little else: we know just one scenario where changes are blocked if Tamper Protection is enabled but there are more.
    ghacks

    TP that's a very fitting acronym. smh.

    CFA is worthless until they give us a option to allow with UAC prompt. I refuse to believe it worth a half cent until this happens. I will not go through reboots and browsing to add the program and then possibly having to reboot.

    Except that with Premium, WD is disabled, but either way you are OK.
