No, not 'fake news', just partial information. As I explained in post #74 the MCT is useless without the products.xml for 1903. The same thing was the case for all previous 'leaked' MCTs, as it was for 1809 here...

definitely "not" fake news. even though the 1903 MCT was briefly available, MS has recently pulled the 1903 MCT as attempting to download that now shows a 403 forbidden error message and will be re-posted in late May.

I installed 1903 after using UUP dump downloader & UUP > ISO converter tools to create a multi-edition AIO USB install media (that has build 18362.53) on an old Dell laptop - seems to work okay.

But don't install the May 2019 update onto machines that use outdated AMD RAID drivers as I found out here.
Obtain the newest AMD raid drivers first and then try out the May 2019 update.

The least you can expect after an hour is to reach the 1809 desktop. A picture is better than a thousand words.

Well I ended up doing a clean install of 1809 since I was having so many issues and when I rejoined WI and attempted to install 1903 it ended in error stating that it couldn't install on my system. I then reverted back to standard channel so I'll wait until it gets released the right way in WU. Still don't understand why my machine was offered it in the first place which led to my problems.

Were you trying to install 1809 or 1903? I’m confused.

With the current MCT 1903 the end result is 1809.

This is a departure from the behaviour of previous leaked MCTs. Each MCT would look for its products.xml on the download servers. All previous 'leaked' MCTs would fail at that point as the relevant .xml hadn't been released yet. It would then say....

This MCT defaults to a fallback position of using the latest available products.xml, which happens to be the one for 1809.

In order to make 1903 media (or upgrade to 1903) you need the 1903 products.xml, contained in a products.cab file. You then put products.cab in the same folder as the MCT and run it with the command line: MediaCreationTool1903.exe /Selfhost. I know this works, as I made the 1709 media from its leaked MCT and products.xml in just that way.

The one (small) fly in the ointment is that 1903's products.xml hasn't been leaked, so you can't do that

Still, the new light theme for the 1903 MCT is pleasing to the eye, so that's something.....

In MikeMecanic's image above, it shows version Windows 10 ver 18362.1-which is correct for 1903. That's why I was asking MikeMecanic if he was trying to get 1809 or 1903????

I still can't install 1903 on my laptop so I'll have to wait for the WU release with the latest updates.

    MCT 1903 Wrong Link

The link is still hot (just try it) and the departure screen is the regular MCT screen = white (screenshot). The file was downloaded on the 14th (from this thread) and live upgrade the next day. Yes, I was trying to upgrade to 1903, but it ends up in the latest 1809 CU. Yes, also test the ISO file and in both cases did not experience any issues.

File properties does not correspond to the end result. Sorry for the term use, but it was only referring to someone who likes to use it frequently and not for being rude or to blow the main breaker. By any means we have some frustrations, just there to test.

    Take care,

Yep, 1903 hasn't been released on MCT yet and is only available via insider release preview ring.
