It's just an issue with guest 1903 VMs when the host is 1903. I can run 1809 guest in 1903 just fine and that is ok. I use vmware for school and all our images are server 2012 r2 or older so i'm not worried about it.
Confirmed. I just install VMWare 15.0.4 on my RP build. 1809 and all Linux run fine. My VM RP just sat there with a blank screen. I think I saw a very quick blip of the boot spinning dots. A Restart attempt thru VMWare gives message "VM is busy" or some-such. Trying to close does the same. Impossible to kill thru taskmanager or Process Explorer...... "Access Denied", everywhere. VM was not busy, VM was dead. alt-ctrl-del, restart, only way out. IMO not Windows issue, VMWare issue.

1903 media creation tool (MCT) leaked (download link)
saw it in another forum; can't download 1903 esds with this new mct because they're not yet posted - will only download 1809 esds currently
Is it possible to clean install using this 1903 MCT or should go down i Preview Ring route.

    Many Thanks

No worries guys, done a clean install of 1809. Joined the insider release preview ring installed 1903 then opted out. Must say 1903 is running a dream on a 6 year old test Toshiba laptop.

    Cheers

Thanks for the 1903 MCT as I'm currently using it to upgrade my laptop which has issues with trying to join WI after it was presented with 1903 via the regular channel which failed during the install. Afterwards I could never join WI using the link account setting which always came up blank.

Edit: MS has fixed it and now it will only download 1809.

So, it appears MS have plugged the 'leak', hardly surprising . Makes no difference though, even if you downloaded MediaCreationTool1903.exe while the link still worked it will only make media for (or upgrade to) 1809.

That's not quite the case. The MCT is only one half of the files you'd need. The other half is a 'products.xml' file that defines the esd files to be downloaded - and the one for 1903 hasn't been leaked. You need the .xml file inside a products.cab and then use the MCT's /SelfHost option so that it uses your local copy instead of getting one from the servers.

Run on its own, the 1903 MCT will download its products.xml from the update servers. The currently available products.xml is for 1809, so the 1903 MCT makes that.

The process takes almost an hour and MCT 1809 is in the box, upgrade or ISO (20 minutes). 1903.exe appears to be a fake news. Did not stay there 17763.437.

No, not 'fake news', just partial information. As I explained in post #74 the MCT is useless without the products.xml for 1903. The same thing was the case for all previous 'leaked' MCTs, as it was for 1809 here...
