And now for the rest of the story . . .

I want to show my students the May 2019 Update version, so I set out to put the update onto Teaching Lappy.

I discovered Teaching Lappy had somehow lost her upgrade product key and was on Home, rather than Pro! Urk!

So, I went to Settings>Activation>Change Product Key and plugged it in again. Lappy upgraded to Windows 10 Pro with no problem.

On to updating to 18362; Lappy churned around awhile and then I was told my computer couldn't install Windows 10! It didn't tell me it couldn't update; just that it couldn't install Windows 10! Hey, I already have Windows 10 1809 Pro installed!

So, I turned off the computer, plugged in the Flash Drive, booted, then spammed Escape (it's an HP), chose F9>Flash Drive and away Install went.

Because this is my Teaching Lappy and I have only a few apps on it; documents, etc. are on an external drive, it wasn't all that upsetting to me.

However! If this had been one of my production machines, I'd have been fit to be tied!

Installed on several machines runs great.
Tried to install on two more and got "

cannot upgrade due to a driver issue or service". I ran AppRPS and this is in the log file.
App Vendor: Microsoft
App Name: Drive reassignment (Upgrade Block)
Dir Path:
1 is a dell d6430 laptop 500GB ssd 6 gig ram. The other is an amd homebuilt. Phenom II 16gb ram 256 ssd.
Any Ideas?

Anyone sitll having Vmware issues on the latest build of 1903? I can't start guest VMs at all.

I got that on my HP laptop. I always make an ISO with UUPDump, so I just powered down, stuck the flash drive in, booted from it and clean installed. It worked like a charm.

There's absolutely no reason this laptop shouldn't be able to update; it's newer than the desktop that updated.

Battleye anti cheat system blocked update for me. when I deleted Battleye folder in Program Files (x86) folder update run fine.

Was Teaching Lappy originally supplied with OEM Windows 8/8.1/10 Home pre-installed? If so, any clean install (whether 1903 or earlier) will read the embedded Home key from the firmware and and skip asking for the product key, it will install Home because that's what the key in the bios says. But as you have a digital license for Pro then the generic Pro key can upgrade it from Home to Pro.

VM wares are not yet updated to support 1903
ask the makers/creators of those vmwares to provide updates to those that will make 1903 work

edit: I downloaded and made a 32bit 1903 + KB4495666 ISO (build 18362.53) using the UUP dump downloader and beta tested it on an old Dell laptop with an Intel Core 2 Duo mobile CPU. I'm not using 1903 thru any vmware, btw

First, you misspelled vmware workstation, it is not vm wares but a known software virtualization suite. Second, you wrongfully pointed out that it is not ready for 1903, due to creator's fault, when me and many others having it running just fine on 1903, starting guest vm's and resuming them with no problems at all. The latest version is 15.0.4. So no need for false blanket statements. As long as it does not appear in feedback hub and as an issue in release notes, all issues people are having are their own system mis/configuration issue and not general in any way.

1903 media creation tool (MCT) leaked (download link)
saw it in another forum; can't download 1903 esds with this new mct because they're not yet posted - will only download 1809 esds currently

It's just an issue with guest 1903 VMs when the host is 1903. I can run 1809 guest in 1903 just fine and that is ok. I use vmware for school and all our images are server 2012 r2 or older so i'm not worried about it.
