I noticed recently that the UUPDump website shows several different entries for build 18362.30 -- Feature Builds and Cumulative Update Builds.

Given that either one creates a multi-GB ISO file, what is the difference of using one over the other to either install the OS or to update an existing build?

    Hi there
The cumulative update has the feature update in it as well - the feature update incorporates the updates in any case so from either ISO the build appears to be identical so "You Pay's your money and take your choice".

Intuitively though I'd go for the cumulative updates.

You'll find though when using UUPDUMP with either of these downloads there's a few extra steps as the updates get added to the wim files before making the ISO. It takes slightly longer to create the ISO than a "Normal" UUPDUMP" release. Once the ISO is created the install is painless as usual -- to update windows just run the setup.exe from the iso.

All efforts to upgrade my current release preview install to 19H1 have failed.

ISO created with uupdownloader, ISO created following Kari's excellent UUP dump video tutorial,
and setting myself in slow ring and letting Windows update do its thing have resulted in failure.

Attempting the upgrade all 3 ways leads to failure at the exact same point, when windows install is setting up devices.
An install window for razer software, which I dont normally install, pops up but says it is unable to connect to the server.
Canceling this installer window results in windows setup failing complaining it has a problem setting up my devices.

Since it fails in the same spot through windows updates I am assuming that both of the ISO's I created are not the problem.

Short of doing a clean install, reinstalling all my programs and settings, which I was really hoping to not have to do, I am out of Ideas.

Any thoughts or input in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

    peace

    Hi here

can't understand this as you don't even need to enrol in any of these rings when using UUPDUMP. Logon to the UUPDUMP website and after choosing build you want just follow instructions.

    UUP dump

just download and unzip the zip file -- now simply run the script and once the iso is created simply run the setup.exe from the iso file (just click on the iso with windows explorer).

If necessary run it from an older version of windows e.g before you used any of the insider rings - but usually the UUPDUMP method works every time.

    No dice.

I tried disabling windows search service, and also telling the installer not to check for updates which was also previously suggested.
Just for giggles I also unhooked any unnecessary hard drives and also disconnected from the internet to be sure it couldn't connect.

    Same results.

Yea I don't get it either. I have never had any issues in the past doing any Windows 10 updates or upgrades since it came out.
All attempts to run are done from my original 1809 17763.404 install, set to Insider Release Preview. Restored with macrium each time.
Setting my self to the slow ring was done after my previous failures using UUP dump just to make sure I wasn't doing something wrong.

I guess maybe its just time for a clean install of windows when the final release comes out if it's still a problem.

This "curious" bug with the emoji panel has not been fixed, will it be possible for them to fix it in time for the official release of version 1903? I think not, I hope I'm wrong because it doesn't matter if you use that panel or not, it's a pretty noticeable bug with a new feature that will be introduced in 1903.
