    Hi there - particularly to Virtual Machine users.

    just to re-cap on the VMware situation on this build.

    1) Running this build as a VM on any standard Windows 10 Host other than skip ahead / fast/slow ring builds as HOST - works fine, no problem with attaching USB devices.

    2) Same when using Linux distros as a HOST - OPENSUSE and CENTOS work just fine - haven't tried ubuntu or mint though - another 2 popular distros.

    3) With this build as a HOST any VM (Linux or Windows) even an XP VM !! fails when you try to connect USB drives to the VM

    I see there's posts over on the VMware forums over the issue so I would assume Ms will get this fixed before RTM -- Ms works quite a bit with VMware so it's in both their interests to have this issue resolved ASAP.

    Using HYPER-V as a solution isn't always possible or desirable for quite a few people -- and in any case that route isn't available to loads of people using HOME edition and still want to use VM's.

    As far as the Virtual Box option is concerned - there have been some issues apparently but as I don't use that platform I can't add anything further on that topic. Perhaps some people using VBOX can comment.

    Cheers

    No issues running this build as a guest in VirtualBox. I don't have the facilities to run it as a host so can't comment on that.

    With this build and the previous three I've had to reinstall the Nvidia drivers. For some reason the Nvidia CP becomes unresponsive and in the Desktop Colour settings I can't make any changes and it remains on Applications control colour settings.
    I can't find any workaround apart from reinstalling the driver then everything is fine until the next windows update.
    There should be a new driver in Windows update, Nvidia 430.00 which also includes WDDM 2.6. Some got it, others not yet. Someone unpacked the cab files for this driver and uploaded it. See DL link in post 5 in this thread if you're in a rush for it.

    (ignore the link in post 1). Anyway, it fixed a bunch of issues I was having with this build and is running great for me.

    Hi there
    @Superfly

    Running this build as a HOST are you getting the Freeze when you try and attach external HDD's to the GUESTS or does the whole thing freeze randomly regardless. I've found it freezes only when attempting to attach a device otherwise it works.

    I'm not sure yet about what happens when I try and browse a network shared device (From the GUEST) .

    @kado897

    As a GUEST it works fine so long as Host isn't the same as this build (or any of the other skip ahead / fast / slow ring builds).

    Hi there
    @Superfly

    You get the same screen in VMware wks - you can't kill the VM - you have to re-boot the Host.

    This seems like a big boo boo on part of Ms as the whole VMware problem has been around for a few months now. I'm sure this is a type of defect that the two companies could resolve quite quickly though if they could actually speak to each other.

    I don't think there's anything per se wrong in the latest release of VMware -- the error probably is in some part of the Windows kernel with security and USB arbiitration. Note the same error occurs if you set USB compatibilty to USB 2.

    Anyway have a good weekend.

    Cheers

    Feedback hub link? how many other users upvoted this except yourself? I will test this later on though, never had issues with workstation in any build, even the builds with the GSOD bug worked ok.
