Yes I noticed that most settings are applied, desktop, APPs, themes, sign in options but it's no going to restore any personal files, installed programs etc. just bare windows. Not even all settings are back.
    It certainly works for me.

What they have in common is: all sign in through local accounts.
Also: all of the machines I updated so far (and observed System Protection's being turned off after the update) use ESET NOD32 Antivirus.

This new “Download and install now” option only applies to Feature updates, right? Only I don't want to be checking for these notifications for Security updates, which I'd obviously like downloaded and installed automatically.

No, it also applies to the optional cumulative updates (the C/D releases) that may be issued in the 3rd or 4th weeks of the month.
The C/D releases are previews of the non-security fixes to be included next Patch Tuesday.

The Patch Tuesday (B release) CU is always installed automatically as this is the only CU to contain new security fixes.

Cheers guys and gals. I don't mind Feature and cumulative updates released like this, I just wanted to make sure my security updates would be automatically applied and I wouldn't have to go manually looking for them.

Yes, the Patch Tuesday B release is mandatory and will be automatically found and installed by windows update. On rare occasions an urgent fix may be released, these too are mandatory. See here for more about all the types of updates.

We also provide updates that don’t follow a standard release schedule. We refer to these as on-demand releases. They are used in atypical cases where we detect an issue and cannot wait for the next monthly release because devices must be updated immediately either to fix security vulnerabilities or to solve a quality issue impacting multiple devices.

Today I have twice downloaded the 1903 ISO from Microsoft's own page, and when I run the ISO's through Windows and Office Genuine ISO Verifier they come up RED, not Genuine...
What shall I do? 1903 OTA upgrade literally killed my 1803 installation and I have not been able to repair it despite hours of trying. Anyone know of a better file somewhere at MS?
The MS Media Creation Tool failed twice, Rufus failed extraction [as it does often] but in both cases the underlying root trouble was probably corrupt images

Did you use the MCT to do that? If not then perhaps you should try using it.
