Am I correct in assuming the May 2019 update which is still in testing on the Insiders Ring still have the Creative x-fi bug? If so then Windows 10 1809 users (myself included) should not update to the May 2019 Update until that issue is fixed, correct?

Just got version 1903 pushed to my laptop and everything went well.

It's now past midnight, so... I'm going to check the new version tomorrow or else I won't be able to get up to go to work in a couple of hours. :)

    Hi there
I need this version to fix the VMware issue -- if it's run as a HOST then GUESTS on VMWare don't work (USB problem when trying to attach external devices to the Guest). When this release is run as a GUEST on any HOST except this version then the VM does work. This defect has been around on all the 19H- and 20H-builds from the beginning so what on earth is Ms development doing.

I suspect that this defect needs to be plugged / noted into the low volume but high visisbility feedback -- any people here know how to do that.

I know a lot of quite big corporations use VMware so this isn't just a trivial issue affecting a few "Geekish" users at home experimenting.

I can't see a sensible RP without this issue being resolved properly.

    Cheers

So what is up with this? Microsoft says that it will not start pushing 1903 out to the public until late May, yet you said that it was pushed to you.

Maybe Rudy has 1809 set up for Release Preview, Rocky.

I believe another user mentioned they got it too by manually checking, and that was without being an insider. Can't remember who. Either something is set up wrong on their end, or Microsoft pushed it too early for a very small percentage (mistake?), or maybe someone's having a wee bit o' fun. I wouldn't be surprised by any of them.

That's right Faith. On another thread there is a user that makes the same claim that they received the 1903 update on a system that has absolutely no connection to any Insider program.

I wonder what is really going on here.

Didn't someone say you could get 1903 by using third party?

I have 1903, but I also have Release Preview activated and I think I "checked for updates". Pretty sure I did, but I've slept since then.

    Hi folks

There's something still mega wrong with the update processes so how can this build be anything like ready for "Prime Time".

Identical laptop (quite a modern one) won't update from THIS build although it works fine from Earlier 1809 builds.

Same machine / hardware tested by using earlier 1809 build to update from

    Success

    Go Figure !!!!!

Anyway thanks to Macrium - taking and restoring images only takes around 10 Mins with Macrium reflect on this system so it's easy to test different configurations and combinations.

I'm always good at finding things to break in systems !!!!

I'll maintain that a lot of these problems are probably due to the fact that Ms developers / testers have never heard of robust regression testing - or even regression testing at all.

Knowing how some of these companies work they don't give the best laptops to their employees who often have a slightly older version of the OS on it -- they test and say OK it works. Then they assume that will still be OK even if they add a few updates to the OS - and probably don't bother to run the tests again after doing the updates from their initial testing --It's probably pressure to get stuff out of the door as fast as possible.

    Cheers
