I have to side with Walt on having good experiences with Windows updates. I have had one that wouldn't update a few versions ago but the next update worked fine. And, yes, this is from Oct 2014 as well.
I have also helped about 18 people transition to Win 10 threeish years ago and the big feature is that I just don't hear from them! Very bad if your livelihood depends on it! It seems that all those machines have just got on with successful updates.
I just don't have any qualms about updates due for me or my clients. OK, we don't push the limits, with very ordinary setups, but this would be true of the vast majority of users.
Cheers and may we all have good experiences
Hi there
I think the UUPDUMP's are an excellent way for people to test drive these builds when they aren't enrolled in the programs or the programs are closed.
If Ms really didn't like these they would ask for the website to be shut down -- so far there's been no indication that they are even thinking about that.
The WU process seems somehow to be a bit random -- I'm not referring to failures when updating but it just seems loads of people on identical builds aren't being offered the updates in timely manner or even at all in some cases.
@linw
conspiracy theory -- aren't some bugs always deliberately left into an OS so it makes money for consultants to help people with machines and also to force updates every so often !!!!! A 100% successful OS might put a lot of people out of business-- for example what happens when it becomes 3X cheaper just to buy a new machine every so often than keep going on with a Service Contract !!!!!
Cheers

It's a smart move by Microsoft, there is no reason to skip the RP ring in a panic to get it out.
