The Cortana offline issue was caused by the upgrade, some switches were reset during the process. Works normally now.

    Hi folks

isnīt it time that Windows update for these builds just didnīt do windows.old any more -- I don't know anybody with a slightest nozzle of a brain who doesn't backup their system before doing one of these updates -- we aren't talking about "Bog standard users" who sign up / install these fast / slow / skippy builds -- one has to assume that people who install this stuff are reasonably Computer literate.

The Windows Old file is often around 25 GB in size -- not a trivial amount if you run these as VM's or even on a small SDD / HDD.

Surely the time for windows.old has passed -- Ms could easily throw up a screen when people install these builds reminding them to backup their existing system(s) before doing the install / upgrade.

    Cheers

I hear you, but... some people use files in Windows.old to make iso files. Yes, i know that one can use UUPDump, but not everyone is good with that. Also, in the 'normal' course of events, you want people to be able to roll back. To remove that code/logic from just Insiders builds might be more trouble than it's worth. Disk space is cheap - just allocate bigger chunks for your VM's...

If it's there and it's free, why not use it (not often though)

If it is there in a laptop (and rarely used), remove it and replace with a hard disk in a dvd caddy.

Put the dvd player in a usb caddy.

Well, it could be a option during install.

I think it would be foolish of MS to remove part of the upgrade process that will eventually be released to the world. It needs to be tested, just like all the other parts. I've tried rollback twice since the 1st October 1809 release and so far it's worked well.

    Flickering cursor/pointer

Ever since I did the first Insider build update my cursor/pointer has been flickering between the normal arrow and the arrow with the blue circle. I was hoping the second update, since it rolled out so quickly, was going to be the fix but no joy. CPU usage does seem higher but I can't pin-point a particular program causing this, apart from 'Antimalware Service Executable' demanding a lot of processing power, but I think that's fairly normal?

Any ideas what's causing this? It's seriously annoying!

Edit: It was 'Autodesk Destop App' uninstalled and the problem has gone away.
