Oh boy... Sounds that it's going to be a hassle.

All updated but too late in the day to play around with so will have to wait.

You consider making an ISO and update with it? That error is one of the fixes MS mentioned. You may need to go back and restore a build before 18853 to get it to go thru.

Keep going—had similar issues with last skippy build but third time was charm.

Update completed on SSD. IsO was created after several failures in previous upgrades. The Hyper-V VM seems to be stuck at 64% installing - I will pause this VM while rebooting the physical machine.

works with vmware, android emulators etc.

Yeah, think that's fairly new.... asking for permission before charging off. If that's what you mean.
