May be connected, maybe not. During the first few minutes after boot/login, the system does a few housecleaning routines, always has. One of them is to check for updates to Store Apps. Shawn just posted a new "bug" MS found about Apps not auto updating. It may be doing a bit of thrashing and has the Windows\apps folder locked or very busy. That could account for crashing, then suddenly ok. The timing is just about right.....
Sounds logical and timing is about right. My laptop is old and slow to load and by the time I get to the settings screen with it, everything is good. But my desktop is fast, loads quick and I experienced same as Steve with it. After update from MS Store, it is good to go. But is through thrashing/locking apps folder maybe.
Yes, not auto updating for whatever reason appears to be causing that process to do strange/weird things, not seen before, That's how I surmised the possible connection.
- [ADDED 3/14] Microsoft Store app updates do not automatically install on 18356+. As a workaround, you can manually check for, and install updates via the Microsoft Store app. Open Select “…” > “Downloads and updates” > “Get updates”.
