Weird my apps are all up to date and the issue stills happens after I reboot or start fresh it works normal only after 6 tries of it crashing... Weird but thanks!
What is even more weird, I went to my other computer which is on fast build. I opened the settings page and navigated to apps and it opened and was navigable with no crash or closing. Isn't that an interesting piece of information?

Was the computer already on? After a couple of tries or just having it open for 10 minutes or so it will work on its own
The problem happens at the beginning

Even more interesting - the system was NOT updated an 15 apps needed to be updated. I didn't update before I checked settings/app section. Will check again after I update to see what happens. If there is any change in the OPERATIVE state.

No, everything is same. Initial check machine just turned on and it worked and was OK. (This is a portable) So are you saying this is a problem only when machine is 'cold'?

This happens when u start up or reboot and login, in the first 10 minutes or so or 6 tries apps won't open in settings, for me still happening after all apps have been updated...once open it will work like normal

May be connected, maybe not. During the first few minutes after boot/login, the system does a few housecleaning routines, always has. One of them is to check for updates to Store Apps. Shawn just posted a new "bug" MS found about Apps not auto updating. It may be doing a bit of thrashing and has the Windows\apps folder locked or very busy. That could account for crashing, then suddenly ok. The timing is just about right.....

Sounds logical and timing is about right. My laptop is old and slow to load and by the time I get to the settings screen with it, everything is good. But my desktop is fast, loads quick and I experienced same as Steve with it. After update from MS Store, it is good to go. But is through thrashing/locking apps folder maybe.

Probably just related to the issue brink brought up, this wasn't their in previous builds. For me my ms store apps are all up to date and still have the same issue.

Yes, not auto updating for whatever reason appears to be causing that process to do strange/weird things, not seen before, That's how I surmised the possible connection.

    • [ADDED 3/14] Microsoft Store app updates do not automatically install on 18356+. As a workaround, you can manually check for, and install updates via the Microsoft Store app. Open Select “…” > “Downloads and updates” > “Get updates”.
