Just for reference here as it's been raised in here (apologies for mild off-topic): Skype just got updated on my Windows 10 PC as well, and has the same problem when quitting:

It eventually does quit though, albeit after couple of minutes.

    So it's definitely Skype-only related (v.8.42.0.60)

Use the Notification Icon for changing the status ONLY. DO NOT use the quit, it will not work, it will spin in taskmanager. Use the Taskbar Icon option to close the Skype window (NOT "QUIT"), or just click the red "X" upper right corner.

"Quit" anywhere on this version is extremely dysfunctional. Skype did a Royal you-know-what to it.

Count, I'm using the Insider Preview version of Skype (Skype version 8.43.76.38) Thanks for downloading Skype and have had several updates so far without issue.

Try it; you might like it.

Tnx, Wynona I will try it. Skype actually worked but was throwing errors.
    Edit.
That's desktop version and it worked, it's Store APP that has errors.

Then how am I going to terminate it? Close does not do that.

    Two points:

    1. I do launch it only when I use it
    2. I use desktop version

So let's not think about workarounds but await for corrected app. One still wonders if anybody really tests this stuff at all prior to release.

Yes, there's a Preview of Desktop Skype, which some Insiders are testing. I've had no problems with testing so far. Although this is a Preview, you can give feedback on it if there's something you don't care for.

    Thanks for downloading Skype

It works here. I was only trying to help. If you do not like it, don't use it.

Bit binary, eh? Life's not that simple. But I digress.
