    @jimbo45

    If your install is a VM and you have enabled support for nested virtualization and you have not installed VMWare in the Windows VM, then it should be perfectly safe to enable Sandbox/Hyper-V. They are nested not side by side. Or did I misunderstand something here?

    @slicendice

    Thanks --I'll try that

    I essentially "cloned" a running system to a VM (P2V - Physical to Virtual) and then did an update to the skippy build so I had VMware installed on the VM as it was installed on the original (Physical) machine -- I'll uninstall it from the VM and then mess around with the "Nested Virtualisation" -- should be fun - I've enough processor, RAM and SSD's to play with this stuff.

    I didn't actually get asked for activation for the original VM cloned from my running system -- I just did the "restore to different Hardware" and Windows was fine with that as was Office. I've enough licenses over though if I need them. !!! No point though in wasting them when I don't need to.

    Cheers

    Hi folks

    If you want to get the best video -- e.g Kodi on a VM in VMware on a Linux Host enable 3d and hardware acceleration by adding these 2 lines to the .vmx VM config file for the particular VM you want to play the Video on.

    mks.gl.allowBlacklistedDrivers = "TRUE"
    mks.enable3d = "TRUE"

    (For VM's on a LINUX Host not a Windows Host).

    So here's KODI working on a VM accessing a NAS with a classic old DVD ISO (ISO ripped to HDD on NAS) from the Invaders series - with Menu etc (could never get VLC to simply access a DVD ripped ISO with menu offering on a VM before !!)

    No jittering either --playback fine -- Use the KODI 17.X builds rather than the 18.X ones as there seems a bit of a problem with playback --couldn't get smooth playback of 4kUHD files -- no prob on 17.X even on a VM.

    You need to add those two lines to the VM config on a Linux HOST to get the VM to play smoothly -- It plays almost as good as on Native Machine too. You wouldn;t know it was on a VM if you didn't know in advance.

    So I'm getting a bit more impressed with this build

    Sandbox works at 2nd level VM -- have uninstalled VMware on the VM I cloned from my physical system.
    WSL also works properly so far too -- the only thing stopping getting a 100% desktop GUI on WSL is the d-bus procedures (not dubious procedures !!!!) - I think Linux kernel listens out for these in totally different areas to Windows -- however you still can run a load of Linux GUI programs on WSL. There's more coming out of these builds I'm sure.

    I might hack around with the language stuff -- It's annoying having it all jumbled up -- even if I disable or uninstall second language it's still there !!!! -- that's my only gripe with this build as a VM.

    Seems people using VMware have infinitely better results using W10 as a VM on a LINUX Host rather than a Windows Host where the windows Host is one of these builds.

    I'm minded to say that this skip ahead build in spite of my earlier misgivings works far better than the FAST or SLOW Ring (19H1) builds surprisingly enough. At least when run as Virtual Machines.

    Cheers

    OK, I was asked how likely am I to recommend this Build. There's my chance, so I answered thusly:

    It's getting more stable; it just needs to keep whatever A/B it started out with.

    IOW, if I started with Sandbox, I should keep it from then on; if I started with friendly dates, I should keep them from then on.

    To start testing a particular feature, then withdraw it a couple or three Builds later isn't conducive to good testing.
    I would suggest that every time we're asked how likely we are to recommend "this Build" that we answer pretty much the same. Maybe if we repeat it enough times, Microsoft will get the message!

    Of course, you can copy what I've said, but it would probably be better stated in your own words.

    Andre, for some reason, that feedback isn't on "My Feedback". I guess they don't want us to see each others' response to that question.

    Oh yes. This was regular feedback about the build, and they are not shown in the feedback hub.
    Maybe you should send them feedback in oldfashion way, and we could upvote it. I would this time
