    A regular ol' WU worked fine for me. The longest time was spent in 'getting things ready' (always sits at 70% for a while these days). The rest went quickly. Everything working fine as far as i can tell. We're getting close to having1903, methinks.

    Another pleasingly rapid upgrade install through Windows Update! This one took all of an amazing 16 minutes total for the offline install portion of the installation--right on top of the previous build '348! Nice...! No problems with the installation or presently, although I have just started actually using the build.

    If you haven’t been able to get the game State of Decay for free (for a limited time), we’ve just made more slots available! Whether you’ve tried it in earlier builds or haven’t had the chance yet, these instructions have everything you need. We’ve also made fixes to improve the download and install experience thanks to your feedback, so please try again if you had problems before.

    Quick word about State of Decay. Don't bother! Ok, had no trouble following the build instructions for obtaining the game, installing it and running the game--but it's all very slow, very cumbersome, compared to even mediocre recently released games, but in the end the game was at least amenable to being downloaded and it installed successfully. Surprised to see that Microsoft didn't think to ask the Insiders "testing" all of this *where* they might want to install this game! The game is 3.09 GBs in size pre-install--so if you have slow access I'd recommend skipping it entirely as it will not be worth the trouble.

    Really, regardless of your hardware environment, this one isn't worth your time. It was released 5/6 years ago and is no longer being sold on Steam. I can see why! It looks like something 5-6 years old, made for a console with relatively puny hardware resources--oh, wait.! Too bad Microsoft picked something as raunchy as this game for the testing.

    I wasn't asked where I wanted to install the game, and configuration options were a bare minimum, and keyboard customizing wasn't possible--perhaps there's a configuration file that would allow me to to change some things manually--but honestly with this game I wasn't even interested enough to look for it.

    It's bizarre--Microsoft cannot look at Steam or Gog in order to get some idea of the kinds of "download and install experiences" its gaming audience might prefer? It's like--again--they want to reinvent the wheel continuously (kind of like they did with Edge, etc.) when the data they are looking for them exists all around them in the Internet infrastructure--while they remain happily oblivious to it. The whole thing was sloppy, slow, and basically completely unappealing and counter intuitive. Too many unanswered question surrounding this xBox application. It ought to be cut & dried--but the people running the program don't seem to really understand the barest of the basics! No *wonder* Microsoft spent $2B of its money buying Minecraft--already several years old and 90% monetized when they bought it! It just doesn't appear that some of them have a clue.

    Hi there
    @f14tomcat
    @martyfelker

    Hi there
    Got this release to install fine so far into a VM on VMware using a Linux Host and no problems so far !!! (apart from Language display language where it only "half works" !!!!) however at this stage on a test build that's not the 100% most important thing --) " You will have it in English -- You will comply --Resistance is futile " -- apologies to sevenofnine in Star Trek. !!

    I've only shared network devices so far -- will mess around with USB stuff a bit later.

    For clean install used following settings for the VM

    1) Disk / I/O controller specify LSI-SAS
    2) for HDD's specify SATA not SCSI
    3) Choose USB3 for USB controller configuration
    4) Choose BIOS rather than UEFI for Boot method

    Other hardware -- "To taste"

    Install the OS
    Install VMware tools

    Have fun.

    Note - if upgrading from a previous version of Windows be careful on how you clean install the VM as you will lose activation if you go to totally new Virtual HDD's

    To avoid that problem - install new using old Virtual HDD's - an image which you will need to take with something like Macrium,
    Add an existing HDD as a "Network drive" -- this is to dump and restore the OS image - you need to do it this way because adding external devices may cause the OS to fail (including the HOST). Install Macrium on the new windows VM - this will work OK. Now take a dump and save to a HOST HDD

    Now create new VM with HDD's defined as specified in first section (1-4)

    set boot device for this VM the Macrium ISO
    restore to new Virtual HDD using image saved on a Host HDD
    boot new VM -- and at the prompt I copied it or I Moved it at first boot (if it appears) choose I MOVED IT.

    Job done !!!

    If you want to update existing VM - update in normal way then take image as above - create new VM as described and then restore remembering to say I Moved it if you get the prompt at first boot of the VM.

    Bit fiddley but this works with this build on VMware wks 15.0.2 and setting virtual HDD's as specified in 1-4 above.

    My host is CENTOS 7.6

    Cheers

    reboot loop

    Hi,

    I have the Win10 fast ring in VMware Workstation, but the last two builds have put me into a reboot loop. The only way to get out is to reset the VM so it reverts to the last known good configuration. So I'm two builds behind at this point with no way to upgrade.

    I stopped BITS and wuauserv, deleted the contents of the \Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder and rebooted, but no dice.

    Any ideas?
