    I installed the recent updates including KB4465065 but the report below still shows Retpoline is disabled. How do you enable it?
    Steve,
    Follow the instructions given here
    Mitigating Spectre variant 2 with Retpoline on Windows - Microsoft Tech Community - 295618

    Thanks. What does this mean "The above registry configurations are for customers running with default mitigation settings"?

    I don't want to break the PC by fiddling with those registry settings!

    It means that, if you don't have these entries in the registry, with values for example 8 and 3 respectively (which enables mitigations against all vulnerabilities), then you make both values 400.
    If you have them, then you add the value (=bor) of 400 to the ones you already have ( in the above example you make these values 408 and 403, respectively)

    I have no key for FeatureSettingsOverride but do have FeatureSettings. Do I just add the key FeatureSettingsOverride with the default value of 400?

    Yep!!!

    and make the FeatureSettingsOverride 400 and the FeatureSettingsOverrideMask 400

    Save the following as .reg file and import it in Registry, by double clicking it!

    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management]
    "FeatureSettingsOverride"=dword:00000400
    "FeatureSettingsOverrideMask"=dword:00000400

    Or Open PowerShell as Admin and run the following two commands:
    Code:
    New-ItemProperty -Path 'Registry::\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management' -Name FeatureSettingsOverride -PropertyType DWord -Value 1024
    New-ItemProperty -Path 'Registry::\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management' -Name FeatureSettingsOverrideMask -PropertyType DWord -Value 1024

    I have both reg-items ; FeatureSettingsOverride = 0 and FeatureSettingsOverrideMask = 3 !
    Still my InSpectre-checker " says" ; all is switched on and performance is good !
    The SpectreMeltdownCheck of Ashampoo "says" the same !
    So , which values are right/wrong.............??

    There's no right or wrong.
    Since the FeatureSettingsOverride = 0, you have enabled mitigation against both Spectre Variant 2 and Meltdown, but not against Spectre Variant 4 (Speculative Store Bypass) - To do that the FeatureSettingsOverride must be set to 8

    To enable Retpoline, with your current settings, you must have:
    FeatureSettingsOverride = 400
    FeatureSettingsOverrideMask = 403

    If you change your settings to enable mitigation for Spectre Variant 4 (Speculative Store Bypass), then to enable Retpoline you must have:
    FeatureSettingsOverride = 408
    FeatureSettingsOverrideMask = 403

    So, to enable all "bad guys " I have to set these values on 408 and 403............??

    Yep... all 'bad guys' and Retpoline too!

    Be careful 408 and 403 are hex values. When changing the Registry check the hex value!
    The decimal values are 1032 and 1027 respectively

    Many thanks. I'd give you some Rep but I can't do that on this thread for some reason. Despite not having a FeatureSettingsOveride key, InSpectre still shows I'm OK. I'm confused!
