It looks like it was for this below.
Use sign-in info to auto finish after Update or Restart in Windows 10 | Tutorials
Yeah, I know, remember that in this forum there has been a lot of talk about that toggle:
on a restart Fall Creators Update reopens apps from before
on a restart Fall Creators Update reopens apps from before
That's why I found it interesting that that toggle was not there.
After upgrading from Build 18836 (20H1) to Build 18841 (Windows 10 x64 Enterprise Insider Preview), I immediately had the Edge won't properly launch problem others have discussed here.
The Repair and then the Reset actions did nothing--well, Reset deleted my browsing history, but I backed that up first. I was about to start issuing Dism Commands, but looked at the relevant collection on the Feedback Hub, "Microsoft Edge is crashing on launch on Build 18841." A wonderful person, Sarang D, posted this workaround / solution:
Run Control > Internet Options > Advanced Tab on Internet Properties > Settings . There is a section, Accelerated graphics with one option: Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering*
Place a check-mark in the box. The asterisk tells us that this will be in effect after system reboot.
And folks, for me, Edge behaved just fine. I've restored it to default status, and I've got that nice feeling that usually comes from a good single malt.
Great find!
I wonder, then, if installing this build is interfering with Graphics software?
I do know that installing this build over 18836 replaced some of my RealTek Audio drivers with the 'Windows' version, so I had to go back and install the RealTek HDA drivers again. So, perhaps something similar?
Uninstalled the Maps app on the last preview version as it hasn't loaded correctly for quite some time for me. Just checked it now on 18841 and it's loading okay?
Opened it a second time and back to a blank page again.
(1/2)Many of you are asking why we haven't released a #SlowRing flight in a while. We have a GSOD that's caused by a very common scenario around gaming anti-cheat codes. Unfortunately the fix is in the hands of our 3rd party partner company that we're working with them on...
(2/2) Looking at our #SlowRing population, MANY of you play these games so your machines would be very difficult to use--we are committed to releasing Slow builds that are high quality so this is why we're holding the build
