Well, 20/10Mbps from 4G is best I can get at this location and time but that's not only problem, MS server can get really slow at times when people notice or start updating to new build. If I start at right time, It can download in 15 minutes but at wrong time it can take over an hour.
Heheh, as the Microsoft Store just did for me while updating some apps. My internet is fully capable of downloading at 350Mbit/s, but the Microsoft servers decided they only want to give me speeds of 250Kbit/s.

Anyone have an issue with File Explorer Taskbar jump list entries seeming dormant?

Seems to work fine for me. Maybe try a few reboots and let the computer settle a bit while logged in. The whole taskbar and all its features seem a bit glitchy sometimes. Usually these things sort them selves out automatically.

Yep - it is not uup per se that is the issue but the way windows update manages things.

Using a UUP downloader bypasses that and allows you to create an iso (only relevant for Insider versions). We all known that upgrading from an iso is the most reliable way to upgrade.

In a sense, your original assertion is still basically true as you are using a complete install file (.wim rather than.esd but that is inconsequential).

The original idea behind uup update with WU was to minimise amount downloaded. Problem is WU has to do a lot more work to prepare etc. This is what slows things down. For those with unlimited moderate/fast internet e.g. 10+Mb/s, the benefit of a reduced download is far outweighed by the extra time it takes to do updates with WU.

Admittedly, WU is much slicker now than when originally produced but for me a uup download and upgrade is the fastest solution.

Only slowish part is it takes a little while to create the iso.
I thought part of the point of UUP/WU was not only to minimize the amount that needed to be downloaded, but also to minimize the time spent in the 'offline' phase. As far as the 'getting ready/downloading/installing' part, the user is more or less not supposed to really care, or even know about it, much less obsessively monitoring progress, etc. It's supposed to just happen unobtrusively in the background. Great when it works

Of course, as Insiders, we always want to push things along as quickly as possible, and for that, nothing beats installing/upgrading from ISO. But presumably MS would like us to be testing the delivery mechanism as well as the bits delivered, so I always try to let WU do it.

But sometimes you just have to hit up UUPDump and make an ISO

I'm noticing the Microsoft Family icon showing in the notification area on the taskbar with this build even though I'm not in a family group.

No process is running for it, and the icon doesn't do anything when clicking on it, hovering over it, or right clicking on it.

Restarting the explorer process sorts it though.

    Same.
I had it in the System Tray once, haven't seen it since but, it's still running in Task Manager...

    Hi there

I think UUPDUMP also offers standard versions of windows too if you scroll through available versions -- don't check the insider box.

    Cheers
