I've noticed that everything freezes up for a bit whenever the hard drives need to spin back up again in this build.

It may very well be this build, and not you Jimbo. M$ tends to break things on regular IP builds - I'm betting they broke more things on this build because it is so far ahead of its time (pun intended)
^^^^ This. Great organizer and converter. *Horrible* reader.
Interesting. Around build 18329 or 18334, one of the two, I enabled the hidden 'Ultimate Performance' power scheme. I've not seen a problem at all in terms of any sort of lag, and I've been using Rufus to make bootable USB Flash Drives of 4 different projects, SRCD, Sabayon Linux, and CloneZilla, and I installed Macrium and had it create a bootable USB Flash Drive as well.
So, I think you may have hit the nail on the head, there, @f14tomcat, because that power scheme sets all HDs the same, no shutdown (but I did adjust a shutdown time for when the machine is on battery power)....
Hi folks
Can't install Guest OS in this build with VBOX (could be me setting things wrong but I've tried a load of things).
Keyboard won't react to the continue button and Mouse seems to have zero effect (just disappears when you try and use it inside the VM) -- and this is just at Guest OS Install time
The boot (power on) machine from the install iso works but when ist bit of user input required thing just hangs.
VBOX users on this build -- are you using already existing VM's or have you tried to install a new Guest.
I don't have same problem on a Linux Host strangely enough though.
Cheers

I apologize for choosing my words a little more harshly than I meant them. Looking back, I definitely overstated what you said. So in that I was wrong. But I stand by the rest of my statement. In my opinion, IE is the worst browser EVER made, and Edge isn't too far behind it.
But if it works for you, that is good for you. I have nothing against anyone deciding they want to use it. But I have a lot against M$ for continuing to waste time and energy on a losing game.
Hi there
@kado897
Found a way round the Windows Host and Centos.
When selecting Guest to install choose Linux x64 2.x3.x4.x rather than Red Hat and then it seems to work
After selecting the I(nstall) screen when creating the Guest you will eventually see a decent mouse cursor and then it all proceeds OK. Note step post installation tasks takes a little while otherwise guest installs very fast depending on what you selected. Target device external SSD connected via USB3-->SATA connecor.
Cheers
