Couldn't ever uninstall VMware because of one of them.

    Hi there

could be but I'm really not minded to keep messing about -- this stuff should just WORK !!!!!
I can't believe Microsoft developers don't use Virtual Machines --surely they must do if they are working on several builds concurrently.

I despair of the QC at Microsoft -- perhaps the words Quality Control or the concept has been removed from English Language.

    Cheers

    Hello,

Can we delete .mkv with this build ?

    Thx.
You can try with command prompt… here are instructions:

    tenforums insider-preview-fast-build-18334-19h1-feb-8-a-post1573677.html#post1573677

Command Prompt, DEL command with force switch has no issues in deleting MKV files:

    Code:
    del /f FileName.mkv
Command Prompt does not have to be elevated when run from a local admin account. A folder with MKV files will be deleted with following command:

    Code:
    rd /s /q Path\FolderName
    Kari

I just uninstalled it, had to stop those services first. It works fine in 1809 but will see what happens when normal 1903 rolls out. VMware should start working on the fix now, I imagine there will be some really pi**ed off owners of payed, pro version if it doesn't work.

    Hi there

    Here's one of them !!!!

New Windows 10 Insider Preview Skip Ahead Build 18836 (20H1) -Feb. 14-snapshot1.png

VMWare does work fine on the normal (i.e the regular build for non insider users) latest 1809 build with latest updates (of windows) applied but I've never got it to work properly on any of these skip ahead builds. The USB thing just kills it.

    Hi there
    @CountMike

Bad news again on VMWare front

VM's hang when you try and connect usb drives - whether usb2 or usb 3 - even if you ensure VM is set fror running in version 15.X of VMWare. Doesn't matter if it's a Windows or Linux VM running from this build as HOST.

Although you can get back into windows you can't close the VM without a re-boot. (not quite true actually -- you can kill it with Task manager via ctrl-alt-del and then go into task manager that way but it's probably safer to re-boot anyway).

Same problem also if you run on a Linux Host and have this build on a VM. With Linux though you can by using the PID get rid of the VM but it's safer to re-boot anyway.

so again I'm afraid this build is still a NO NO.

C'mon Ms and VMWare -- we've had this problem now for at least the last 4 or 5 builds !!!!!!! Forget about making more themes etc -- get USEFUL stuff working PLEEEEEEEEEASE.

Of lesser importance IE11 hangs randomly - especially if you right mouse click on settings and change a few things like add status bar etc.

    Cheers

When I use Task Manager to stop VMWare something is still running in the background. VMware will not run again unless I restart my laptop. I don't have any problems connecting to a USB drive when I'm using VirtualBox.

Check the picture I posted above, as soon as you start VMware it starts those services but doesn't shut them down when exited.

    Hi there

    @CountMike

Am trying VBOX on this build but I'm flummexed.

With VMWARE it's easy with ctrl enter etc to get to full screen mode and input to VM with mouse

I've got this message every time I try and use the mouse when installing a GUEST VM with VBOX
Might be me being stupid but I don't have a right ctrl key.

New Windows 10 Insider Preview Skip Ahead Build 18836 (20H1) -Feb. 14-vbox.png

How can I change the Mouse key and how can I switch guest to full screen mode and back again

I know after guest installed to install vbox additions.

probably stupid questions to a seasoned vbox user but I'm finding the interface a bit frustrating -- still I want to persever with a simple quick Linux guest.

    Cheers

I haven't used Vbox in a while and even than not for very long but don't remember having that problem. I'll try installing it later on, I'm on 1809 right now.

If I change from slow or fast to skip ahead how often do you get updates? Skip ahead would be one every time a new feature version is available?
