Hi there
@slicendice
That doesn't work as you need to connect to X-server so you can't release the console while the windowed application is running. The console command runs while the window app comes up i.e the ubuntu main windows bash command and then a screen with your application e.g spider. (kpat is the actual command for this set of games).
The main problem is somewhere with the DBUS interface which I need to do a bit more research over -- currently the console will issue a few messages while the windowed application is running so you can't get in to add more commands.
I think once I can sort out some sort of DBUS interface I might be able to get a minimal desktop GUI up --then all the applications should run directly from the desktop GUI !!!

Hi there
@slicendice
Here's what you get -- the Windowed program starts - there's an ignorable error (something with video but ignorable) so the console doesn't appear to get released -- but you can actually type in another command so my error there as I thought console was locked. I need to look at sockets and Dbus stuff but essentially works.
I need to do a bit more work on this to make it better but I'm sure I'll get somewhere with it.
For X-server you need to set to connect to no client and use multiple windows. You need in the console to create this file too : echo "export DISPLAY=:0.0" >> ~/.bashrc
X-server config (after running it will sit in the background). Using VcXsrv as x-server for windows.

Hi there
X-server i'm using is VcXsrv
you can also mount network drives without samba (although samba works) in wsl with
$ sudo mount -t drvfs '\\server\share' /mnt/share
you can if you want also mount usb external devices with the drvfs file system that wsl uses
e.g for a USB drive on D.
$ sudo mkdir /mnt/d
$ sudo mount -t drvfs D: /mnt/d
to unmount it safely
$ sudo umount /mnt/d
Cheers
