    I don't know the process involved when running disk cleanup to remove the amount of GB Windows Updates-related, but you seem to have a good idea about it. OTOH, I don't think it will take all night, but I know for a fact that it could be pretty long, especially with 6.9GB, just enough to put one at wit's end.
    I thought I had an idea, but right now I'm clueless. Took 9x longer than usual and left a lot of garbage all over the place.

    I'll try cleaning manually using the storage sense feature next.

    UPDATE: Well that was useless. Saved 200MB. Still Gigabytes of useless data left.

    The MSN Weather app is working again

    Halleluja - finally the live tile function for the weather app is working again. I don't know if it's thanks to this cumulative update or if it's thanks to an update of the app itself but still...

    @Mooly

    No, over one hour of disk cleanup is not normal. It has never ever taken over 10 minutes before today.
    @slicendice Long disk clean-ups have long been reported on the forum and I've certainly had them run anwhere from 40 to 60 minutes in all versions of W10.

    Anyhow... I just tried running a 'DISM- cleanup-store' command and that failed with an error message PLUS leaving me even less free space... now down to just 40.4Gb

    I've just restored back to a disk image made before I updated and as expected, back to 42.7Gb free now. There is something odd with these updates imo this time around.

    Another year (or so), another update, and yet... still being asked for permission to run Windows shell experience!

    Beyond facepalm, Microsoft!

    Mine completed in about 5mins. Don't think I got the full 2GB back but I never do.

    If you want long cleaning times try running it in W7 and you have to restart to complete it..

    Same here. Never happened to me before. After this update I started my usual Disk Cleanup/Clean up system files...and checked Windows Update Cleanup and the usual various other selections. It seemed to be working on the first run but I noticed it ended after about 5 minutes which is unusual.

    So I checked again and the 2.05GB for Windows Update Cleanup still remains and is checked. However now when I run the cleanup it completes in about 5 seconds and the files remain with the Windows Update Cleanup still checked at 2.05GB

    Downloaded and installed KB4487044 no problems so far.
    Ran disc cleanup and after 50 minutes it cleaned ~3Gb of misc., and system files.
