I like and use Paint (Classic) all the time or quick and dirty editing. Hope they don't eliminate it altogether, at some time (i don't know if still) you had to use a registry hack to have it working.

I still use it, too. I lost track of it once--found it again as a free download from the Windows store and reinstalled it. I would assume it is still there. Have both 3d and regular paint installed--just use regular paint, mostly. Great for quick and easy screen-grab saves and the like.

Walt, it's under Windows Accessories in the Start Menu. For some reason, it hasn't been deprecated yet, although they said it was going to be.

They were about to deprecate Paint as a win32 app completely, but then they planned on moving it to the Store. I think so many people complained about this move, that they have decided to keep it as is and only provide a few updates and fixes to it.

I think that there are two win32 binaries that should never be removed from any Windows edition and never be converted into an UWP App:

1. Notepad
2. Paint

There might be more of these gems, but those two are the most important ones. They are simple and lightweight, and serves their purpose perfectly.

My Fast Ring VM has had a bunch of odd issues for the last tens of builds, so I decided to do a full reset. If that does not help, I'll clean install it.

Update: After full system reset and an hour or two of Windows post install processes, this build is running smooth as silk. Even Edge syncs my favorites now. I'm very pleased with the results.

I agree, except I prefer Wordpad over Notepad, but that's what makes the world go round and round . . .

I use Paint to resize photos I've taken so I can post 'em in Chillout Room threads.

And I had so many GSODs that I began to hate green!

My solution was to finally go back to a clean install of 18305 and then reinstall, which took me off Skip Ahead. So, although I don't generally do those "bypass Microsoft's wishes" things, since I'm legitimately in the program, I ran Shawn's tutorial and I'm back in. No GSODs this time around.

Oh yes, Wordpad is one to add to the list.

I use Notepad for different reasons, and text with formatting is not compatible with what I need the editor for. (scripts, logs and CMD outputs)
