Yes, File Explorer is definitely at fault, other programs that are just a shell for it also have same problem.
    This is ridiculous!
I can't delete the damn file at all!
I had to Super Hide it!

    Hi there

    @CountMike

Is VMWare working on this build --any chance to test it yet -- not sure I'm happy with new releases being available on Friday Afternoons -- seems a strange time to release stuff -- maybe Ms just wants to avoid problems of feedback during normal working week !!!

Incidentally some of the problems with File explorer could be related to IE11 as they are so closely intertwined -- trying to remove functionality from IE11 or to deprecate it probably is causing grief for File explorer too -- just a suggestion - might be total B/S but it's IMO a reasonable guess.

    Cheers

Sadly, VMware works...... somewhat but utterly useless. Can't mount some Linux distros and ones that mount can do it only once in a session. If and when it fails, only Task manager can close it. Whe an distro works it doesn't mount USB drives, shows them but soesn't mount them.

    Hi there

    Thanks @CountMike

I won't bother with this one then -- seems by all accounts 1 step forwards and 6 steps backwards judging by some of the experiences people have had with this build.

Now over to pub to watch some English Premier League Football with plenty of Beer etc.

    Cheers

On my laptop using VMware to run Linux Mint is hit or miss. Sometimes it will start and the next time all I get is a black screen. I haven't tried mounting a USB drive yet.

I think Skip Ahead is closed again. You could try the Reg hack and see if that works.
I know it's full, but I got in when they opened it back up and had it on 18323 and 18329. Since I didn't opt out of it, I should be able to use it.

Going by what you posted "And now, my grinch! Throughout my problems with the GSODs that started with Build 18323, my only solution was to roll back to 18305." That's probably when you lost your spot in the Skip Ahead. I would try the Reg hack if you still want to be in the Skip Ahead ring.

I tried mounting a USB drive and Linux Mint froze and VMWare wouldn't shut down. I had to restart my laptop.

I got to this one late last evening and it installed fine on both test machines (now, a Dell XPS 2720 and a Lenovo ThinkPad X220 Tablet). Went pretty quickly, too. Cheers!

Exactly! And that should not have happened! My account should be what controls Skippy, not a bunch of BSODs that made me have to roll back.
