    Invite? no one has received or will receive any invitation, when they have ready the first build of the "new" Edge, it can be downloaded and installed just as you can download and install Chrome, Chrome Canary, Chrome Beta, etc.

    I don't know about getting an actual invitation or not, but I signed up a few weeks ago to be notified when the new Edge was ready for testing. Haven't heard a peep.

    You make me feel bad when putting that emoji , I was just trying to explain something that I thought had been clear from the beginning, moreover, I think that when that first build is available, those inscriptions on that Edge page will not be worth anything, because I believe that anyone, whether registered or not, can download the "new" Edge without any problem.

    Me too, but believe me, when that first version of the "new" Edge is ready, you will not need any email to find out about it, the news will spread like wildfire.

    IE11 keeps turning the Menu bar and my Roboform password bar off, everytime that I close the window, I have to disable the Roboform and menu bar then restart IE11 and re check the Menu bar and then re enable the Roboform. they won't stay on??

    this is after the 18334 19H1 update. Please help. does the 20h1 fix this?? I use chrome, but my parents us IE11, and they use the menu bar a lot. help.
    Welcome to TenForums, Jesse. I lived in Texas all my life, until we moved to Arkansas to be with our daughter and her husband.

    I quit using IE a long time ago, when Microsoft announced it will be deprecated. As far as I know, they won't fix any more bugs either. So, as @CountMike says, teach 'em to use Chrome or (my choice) Firefox.

    yea, I have heard that they might be getting rid of the IE11, and going to something (now what was it called), I think it was a cross-over for the Google Chrome and IE mixature.. Can't remember now, I saw it in a youtube video.

    thanks everybody for the responses. I do appreciate it.
    This would be a good time to start weaning them of IE and getting them try a few browsers. Hopefully they will find one to their liking.

    When someone is considering using any Insider version they have to decide if having the latest and greatest is worth the risk. I have the Insider builds on my new desktop and my laptop. I will not install it on my wife's laptop. She is computer illiterate and doesn't need the latest and greatest. She only needs a computer that works.
    Exactly my point.

    Hi there

    @slicendice

    A computer that works and Windows !!! Contradiction in terms -- a basic tablet might be better for some people -- depends on what they need to do. !!!

    I've been playing with WSL on these builds -- on earlier 1803 builds I could even get some Linux GUI programs to work -- OK not necessary but I just thought an interesting exercise = just to see if I could do it. On the latest last two insider builds -- can't get the Windows X-Server to do anything so no GUI program starts.

    (For those who don't know Linux -- to get any GUI - there are a load of GUI choices unlike Windows) you need an X-Server to run -- this handles the main screen interface so the GUI choice is much easier to implement than in Windows where it's all built in to a single system).

    I did read that in the next (or an upcoming) build that WSL will be significantly updated -- OK it's not designed yet to run Linux GUI type programs although I can't see why it shouldn't be -- a sort of "Reverse WINE" where you can make some Windows executables run on a native Linux Distro.

    I know you can run a VM -- but where's the fun in that !!!!!! especially if you've got a decent machine with loads of HDD, powerful processor and bags of RAM !!

    (WSL for those who might not know = Windows Subsystem Linux where you can from the store install bash for Linux commands basic command line interface for several of the most popular Linux distros - e.g ubuntu openSUSE etc).

    On latest version of Current version of Windows (not insider) I did manage to get one or two Linux GUI programs to run -- albeit with a bit of difficulty !!!! Here's Nautilus -- Ubuntu's default file manager running in Windowed mode.

    Do you think I have too much free time at the moment -- well it's a hideous damp Tuesday here at 1 Deg C. !!!!

    Cheers

    @jimbo45

    While WSL was never intended for GUI use, it's fun to experiment with that part. I've tried running a bunch of GUI apps too and most of them work surprisingly well. But I'd still rather use a native Linux distribution for those purposes. As a matter of fact, I've seriously considered building a dedicated Linux only machine. ;-)
